Hasbro Q&A/July 2009: Question submission

From MediaWiki

Transformers Wiki participates in Hasbro's roughly-every-other-month Question & Answer session. Our site will be allowed to submit three questions to Hasbro's Transformers team for answering. If you're a registered user at our site, please add your question below!

Keep in mind that Hasbro is not likely to tell us about future product they are not ready to reveal, so keep those sorts of questions to a minimum. Please be as thoughtful about your question as possible! We will similarly reject questions like, "Hasbro, why do you suck so much?" The better and more useful the question, the more likely the admins will choose it to be one of the three submitted. We also reserve the right to edit your question for clarity if need be.

Each registered user can ask one question at this time. Please bullet and sign your question. The deadline for your questions is the evening of Sunday, July 12th, and answers will be sent back on July 31st. If you're a registered member and for some reason you can't edit this page, ask your question on the discussion page, then I or Walky will move it here.

July 2009 questions

  • Forest Lee stated at BotCon 2009 that The Fallen is a multiversal singularity, meaning that there is only one of him across all Transformers stories, and there are no variant or alternate universe versions of him. How is this reconciled with the version of The Fallen from the live-action film? After all, there are umpteen versions and adaptations of the events of the live-action film, from storybooks to comic books to coloring books, all which are different and conflict in various ways. Does The Fallen experience each of these universes in sequence, reappearing in a new universe every time he is defeated in the previous universe? What about the Decepticon campaign happy endings in the Revenge of the Fallen video games, where The Fallen is victorious? Is there an in-house theory on this, and if there is can we hear about it, or should we just assume it all works out somehow and the details aren't important at the moment? --ItsWalky 22:34, 8 July 2009 (EDT)
  • Are the recently-released Target exclusive Transformers Universe Titanium Thrust and Optimus Prime the Generation 1 characters? Also, is the Hot Zone from the same assortment Generation 1 Hot Spot, the alternate-universe Hot Spot/Defensor planned for the original Universe line as an OTFCC 2005 exclusive redeco of the Super class Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime? --FortMax 22:22, 8 July 2009 (EDT)
  • Since the Universe Robot Heroes line has been put on hold to make room for movie Robot Heroes, the U.S. did not get the next four two-packs, Inferno/Tigatron, Predaking/Ricochet, Laserbeak/Prowl, or RID Megatron and Super Optimus Prime. However, Inferno/Tigatron and Predaking/Ricochet were obviously produced as they are available in other international markets. Were the Laserbeak/Prowl and/or RID Megatron/Super Optimus Prime packs produced in any amounts, and if so, might they be released in international markets as well? Also, since the general trend is that if a mold is made, it will be released SOMEHOW, is there an active desire by the Hasbro team to get the figures from these packs released in the U.S. in some form? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Robowang (talkcontribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.
  • Aside from the toys for the live-action movies and 'Transformers Animated' series, most recent Transformers products seem to herald back to the G1 generation. Any possibility that we may see more products based on post-G1 lines and less toys inspired by the 1984-1989 toyline, seeing how the children who played with post-G1 figures are grown or are growing up? - Zadok Rox 22:29, 8 July 2009 (EDT)
  • At one point near the end of the Alternators sub-line, a major retailer's computer system listed several toys that never saw the light of day - Megatron as a Cadillac, as well as repaints of the Scion and Mustang molds. Who were the Scion and Mustang intended to be, if they even got to that stage of development? Hooper_X 22:31, 8 July 2009 (EDT)
  • Considering the recent reacquisition of the Generation 1 cartoon series, does Hasbro currently own the rights to the Beast Wars and Beast Machines cartoon shows in the United States? And if not, are they pursuing them? --Professor Icepick 22:44, 8 July 2009 (EDT)
  • Also along the lines regarding Hasbro reacquiring the Generation 1 cartoon series, are there any plans on reacquiring Robots in Disguise from Saban/Disney? If not, what would the reasons be? --Lonegamer78 23:11, 8 July 2009 (EDT)
  • Even though the movie lines are primarily made up of characters from the films, the rest of the line is filled out by made up characters in the movie aesthetic. Is there any criteria for who is included and who isn’t, as occasionally G1 nods like Arcee and Thundercracker were included in the first movie line as Smokescreen and Skywarp appeared for ROTF. Is there a chance for more such nods like, say, a movie version Shockwave, or Hot Rod? Riddlerj 00:05, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
  • In today's digital age, news can travel fast. New toys are leaked from Chinese sources months before Hasbro makes official announcements, and Hasbro generally only reveals products at three places: Botcon, Toy Fair and San Diego Comic Con. Why hasn't Hasbro taken more steps towards having a better online presence to reveal upcoming products? --Detour 00:47, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
  • Did Burger King consult with Hasbro regarding the Revenge of the Fallen free kids toys? In particular, the Soundwave toy resembles the human-built satellite which Soundwave hooks onto in the movie, rather than Soundwave himself. --abates 01:37, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
  • At BotCon 2009, we officially learned that the Transformers Animated cartoon is no more. What we did not get, however, was an exaplanation as to why. Was this due to Hasbro's new partnership with the Discovery Channel, or something else? - Chris McFeely 05:56, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
  • Will we ever see Deluxe-class or Voyager-class toys of the Revenge of the Fallen Constructicons Scrapper, Hightower and Overload, or even designs of what their robot modes should look like? Tarrn 05:58, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
  • Why is there suffering in the world, and is the possession of Transformers toys a way to alleviating it? Even Decepticon toys? -Derik 13:32, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
  • Understandably, Michael Bay is sticking around for the third and potentially final film in this version of the Transformers story. If Hasbro were to pick someone else to do a reboot for the series eventually, ala "Batman Begins", who would they want to write or direct? Is Hasbro familiar with the works of George Krstic? Antimatter 17:35, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
  • There has been some confusion about the character Grindor and whatever relationship he may have with Blackout from the previous line. Further confusion has arisen due to a Robot Heroes release featuring Blackout for the Revenge of the Fallen toyline. Can you please clarify if it was definitively Grindor who appeared in Revenge of the Fallen, and if so, what is his relationship to Blackout? -- SFH 17:55, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
  • Does the combined form of Skids & Mudflap have a name of his own? - Starfield 19:27, 9 July 2009 (EDT)
  • How important does Hasbro consider editing, storyline creation, consistant characterization and in-universe continuality in its fictional protrayals of Transformers, in television shows, comics, novels and, perhaps most importantly, movies? --Nightshade83 15:02, 10 July 2009 (EDT)
  • I am a large fan of the Movie Constructicons, and Devastator is simply awe-inspiring. However, sadly we have not seen toys of all of his components. Will we see toys of Scrapper, Hightower and Overload? Preferably Voyager Scrapper, Deluxe Overload and Deluxe Hightower. Also, will we see a red redeco of Rampage? Gearshift 10:51, 11 July 2009 (EDT)
  • At the BotCon 2007 Hasbro tour, there was a booth filled with artwork, including very striking posters of Transformers subjects in propaganda- and tattoo-style. Bits of those pieces have shown up on scattered merchandise, such as the Finger Boards and the Shout! Factory DVD packaging, but are there any plans to sell them as posters or prints unto themselves? - Jackpot 01:30, 13 July 2009 (EDT)
