Heavy Unit

Heavy Units are a type of Decepticlone from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
This means trouble.

Heavy Units are by far the largest of the ground-based Decepticlones, rivaled only by the Spider Tank in sheer size. These massive war machines are fairly slow when traversing terrain, but compensate with a powerful arsenal of weaponry that includes the likes of homing-missile launchers and a plasma cannon incorporated into their forearm. Whilst they cannot move quickly, Heavy Units have remarkable jumping prowess for their size and can cross large ravines with ease. They are a tenacious breed and will hound Autobot targets even after they have fled a considerable distance. Heavy Units can also be deployed via Dropships, though this is a rare sight indeed.

This comic was written as a tie-in to the Armada video game, but its details differ from the introduction seen in the game itself. See below for the Heavy Units' role in the game.

[edit]

For close combat purposes, Heavy Units can create massive shockwaves by stomping the ground, sending anything nearby flying (including their own allies). Furthermore, their torsos are capable of rotating a full 360 degrees, making it all but impossible to get behind them. As one might expect from their size, Heavy Units are fitted with considerable armour plating, preventing even powerful weapons from felling them: what sends lesser Decepticlones sprawling may only cause a Heavy Unit to flinch. Concentrated firepower can still exploit this, however, and give an Autobot time to seek cover or fall back.

A single Heavy Unit is a difficult foe to deal with (especially when accompanied by other Decepticlones), and encountering multiple units at once can prove to be a proverbial nightmare. Transformers
