Hightail is a Velocitronian Transformer from the novels portion of the Aligned continuity family.

Hightail is practically a walking repository about all things race-related. He's memorized every bit of Speedia-related trivia- and even won the coveted race at least once- and because of this he is held in high regard among other Velocitronians.

When the crew of the Ark arrived on Velocitron, Optimus Prime and his Autobots sat a row above Hightail's while watching the Speedia. After learning about Hightail and his extensive knowledge of Velocitron's history, Prime sought to get a one-on-one conversation with Hightail so he could understand the conflict between Override and Ransack.

Hightail was later acting as one of Ransack's envoys and was sent to meet with the mysterious 777, who told Hightail and the other envoys about Cybertron in an effort to get them to overthrow Override. When Ransack made his move against Override, Hightail was at his side, firing at Optimus Prime and Bumblebee as the Autobots came to Override's aid. After the Autobots departed from Cybertron, the Star Seekers arrived on Velocitron, with Hightail being present to witness their arrival. This encounter proved to be the catalyst for Velocitron's civil war as Ransack accused Override of aiding the Cybertronians.

When the Decepticons arrived on Velocitron, Hightail directed Megatron to Ransack. He was later sent to Delta by Ransack to spy on Override, and was among her supporters when Megatron spoke with Override. Megatron then warned Ransack not to trust Hightail, suggesting that he wasn't what he appeared to be. Exiles
