The Transformers

[edit]

In robot mode, Hound is armed with a large, silver hologram gun and a shoulder-mounted, spring-loaded, firing rocket launcher with three silver projectiles.
In 2004 the hologram gun was reissued with Transformers Collection Hound and redecoed to make the e-HOBBY exclusive Detritus's rifle.

Notes

[edit]
  • "Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1" was the only time in the cartoon that Hound used his gun to project a hologram: in "More than Meets the Eye" parts 2 and 3 they just sort of appear; in "Heavy Metal War", he projects the giant Autobot warrior from his fists; and in "The Immobilizer", he projects a hologram of Laserbeak from his chest.
  • Hound's character model depicts his hologram gun as a short, almost pistol-like weapon. Like many similar eccentricities of G1 character models, this was the result of an overly-literal interpretation of reference material: Hound's packaging art has him holding the gun at a heavily-foreshortened angle, making the barrel appear much shorter!
  • Although Hound's toy's instructions clearly denote his handheld rifle as a hologram gun, his Marvel Universe profile would ignore the rifle altogether, stating that his jeep mode's "turret gun" (as the "poseable machine gun" was described in the toy's bio) became his handheld weapon in robot mode and that his shoulder-mounted missile launcher was the hologram gun instead. To make matters worse, this would be contradicted by Hound's appearances in the Marvel comic itself, as in the very first issue, Hound projects a holographic missile from his handheld weapon, which he calls his turret gun, and in issue #12 he projects a map from the turret gun in jeep mode.
