Imre SzÃ©lyes

Imre Szélyes (February 13, 1944 - April 25, 2023) was a Hungarian actor, voice actor and theater director with a stage performer career reaching back to the '60s. As for voice work, his dubbing credits include Thoros of Game of Thrones, Lester Freamon of The Wire, Sio Bibble and Cliegg Lars of the Star Wars prequels, old Spock of director J.J. Abrams' Star Trek films, Benjamin Lockwood of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Khonshu of Moon Knight. In animation, he dubbed Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidius of Star Wars: The Clone Wars beginning from the middle of the series' second season.

His lengthy association with the Transformers brand began with the Hungarian dub of the second live-action movie, where he took over the role of Optimus Prime from Tibor Kristóf due to the latter actor's failing health.

The Hungarian dub of the film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was dedicated to his memory by the dubbing company, as Imre had sadly passed away mere weeks before the dub's production. He was succeeded in the role of Optimus Prime by László Horányi.
