Kup tries to hold it together for his big scene.

Synopsis

[edit]

The director prepares Kup for filming the Sharkticon battle insert shots, beginning with a vehicle mode shot. Unfortunately, one of Kup's wheels falls off as he transforms, much to his frustration, prompting a speedy repair job from Blurr. The director then tells Gnaw to get to his mark, shooting down the Sharkticon's attempt to try something different for the scene. As the action starts, Kup transforms and one of his arms falls off. The director insists they keep rolling, and a Sharkticon attacks, knocking off Kup's other arm. Still rolling, the Sharkticons swarm Kup, who manages to take them down with some well placed kicks. A loud crash gets Gnaw's attention, who asks if it was intended to be part of the scene. The director reveals he's made a tweak to the script: bringing in the Dinobots, as Grimlock roars and uses his tail to knock Gnaw away. The director yells cut, pleased with the scene. Kup refutes Grimlock's claim that he "saved him", declaring he didn't need any help...only for his leg to fall off. As Blurr rushes to reassemble him, Kup merely claims he's been through worse.

Notes

[edit]

Transformers references

[edit]
  • Kup mentions the squeeze he got from a squid in a previous shot, referencing the attack in the movie that led to him being damaged.
  • The Dinobots come to the rescue similar to how they rescue Kup and Hot Rod in the movie.

Real-world references

[edit]
  • The director says they're filming insert shots of the Sharkticon battle. Inserts are used in filmmaking to give different camera angles for a scene, or provide a different aspect of the scene to focus on. This shows why only Kup is present and not Hot Rod as in the movie.

Animation and technical errors

[edit]
  • Just before Kup transforms into truck mode, the background shifts very quickly, as if a slightly different camera angle is used, with no cut between them.
