[edit]Battle Beneath the Ice
[edit]Jeff Grey, Bill Gordon, and Neil Travers traveled to Antarctica, where two of their fathers worked at the Federation of Western Europe's oil fields. When they arrived at Fossil Bluff Station however, they discovered that Jeff's father had been called away by a discovery at the nearby drill site. The three cadged a ride on a transport plane to the drill site, and on the flight Jeff encountered the Autobot Hot Rod, in storage and being transported to the same location. They bonded over a mutual admiration for Hot Rod's mad driving skillz and a love of the Gus Gopher Show. When the plane was shot down, they found themselves stranded in a deadly blizzard, only to be rescued by the benevolent city-dwellers.
The city-dwellers' leader The Watcher took them on a tour of the city, showing off its many technological marvels, before taking them to the city entrance, where Jeff's father and his excavation team have just arrived. When it turned out that the Combaticons were responsible for the plane crash, Slingshot and Skydive went outside to fight them while Hot Rod and the humans continued their tour.
While exploring an illusion-room, they were approached by the Decepticon Ravage, who informed them the plane had been shot down by the city-dwellers, who planned to study the aggressive instincts of humans, Autobot and Decepticons in order to program them into themselves and conquer Earth. Unable to contact the outside world, Jeff suggested Ravage substitute his recording of the Gus Gopher Show for the footage of the Aerialbots and Combaticons fighting. Jeff's plan succeeded, and the city-dwellers ended up reprogrammed to act like wacky cartoon characters. As the Decepticons reluctantly retreated under a flag of truce, Hot Rod confided to Jeff that he hoped some day the Autobots and Decepticons would one day unite in peace. Battle Beneath the Ice
