Do not assume that Laserbeak is harmless. His small size, combined with his flight capabilities and fire power, make him a more complicated threat than one would assume. He can also attack his opponents with sonic waves, which become even stronger when combined with that of his fellow cassette-bots. And much like them, he has a personal history of servitude with Soundwave. Like his compatriot Frenzy, Laserbeak is also quite a talker once you get him going.

Laserbeak was among the Decepticon troops led by Megatron during their war against the Autobots. Secret Legacy, Part 1 While Megatron joined Optimus Prime, believing that working with humans was the only way forward, Laserbeak stayed with Soundwave as one of a number of hold out Decepticons.

Jury's still out if me or the one from the movie is creepier when we talk

As part of a plan to free the Decepticons captured by G.H.O.S.T., Soundwave had Ravage, Laserbeak and Frenzy steal Agent Schloder's ID badge. The trio were intercepted by Optimus Prime and Megatron, and Laserbeak had no qualms about engaging his former leader in combat, with the trio using their Tri-Tone ability to great effect. The arrival of Bumblebee with restraining bolts resulted in their capture. During their transportation to G.H.O.S.T. HQ, Soundwave attacked the Autobot convoy and freed the cassettte-bots with an electromagnetic pulse. The trio briefly attacked Megatron before turning their attention to the Terran and human Malto kids. They soon discovered that their Tri-Tone attack was easily interrupted by the catchy tune the kids had made up, allowing Bumblebee to recapture them, however Megatron persuaded Optimus to allow the cassette-bots to go free, believing the imprisonment of Cybertronians by G.H.O.S.T. to be wrong. Decoy

Laserbeak and Frenzy later fell in with the Bot Brawl ring based out of Philadelphia, under the service of the anti-Cybertronian scientist Mandroid. There they provided wrestling-style commentary over the bouts, most notably for one where an undercover Bumblebee fought the mind-controlled Grimlock. When Bumblebee, with the aide of his friends from the Malto family, were able to free Grimlock, Laserbeak and Frenzy were sent running along with the rest of the audience as the Dinobot went a fire-breathing rampage that destroyed the arena. Home, Part 1

Sometime after Mandroid's defeat, Laserbeak joined back up with Soundwave. When Twitch discovered an Embershard in the woods Soundwave dispatched Laserbeak to chase her down. The two grappled in the air over the shard. The shard ended up falling and came into contact with water droplets in the storm clouds. This created a new Chaos Terran mid-air. Laserbeak declared saving the Terran was not his problem and flew off. Spitfire

Laserbeak was flying over the Decepticon base while Starscream gave a grand speech about his plans to conquer Earth. In the subsequent fight with the Autobots and Maltos Laserbeak briefly attacked Robby and Twitch. He was subsequently trapped in the force field dome with the other Decepticons. Witwicky, Part 2

When Bumblebee, Thrash, and Mo entered the dome to get a comic for Robby, they were discovered by Soundwave and Breakdown. Laserbeak was deployed to battle Thrash and Mo. He was pinned down with the others when Breakdown allowed himself to be defeated. Later, Laserbeak followed Bee and Breakdown during their race to give a live feed to the others. The Need for Read

When Hashtag and Nightshade planned a drive-in movie night for Robby and Izzy, Laserbeak and Frenzy turned up to watch from inside the dome. They mostly proceeded to heckle the Maltos and rooted for the film’s villain. Laserbeak laughed uncontrollably when a mole-bot scared and attacked Jawbreaker. Attack of the Drive-In Movie

When an Autobot spacecraft landed in the dome, the Decepticons sought to seize it in order to escape Earth. Laserbeak joined the Decepticon’s attack and retreated once the ship’s cannons activated. Laserbeak later returned and spied on the Autobots, revealing to the Decepticons that the ship contained only Prowl. Laserbeak was then driven off by Optimus. During the renewed assault, Laserbeak took a couple of potshots at Prowl but left most of the fighting to the other cons. Laserbeak boarded the ship with the other Decepticons, and they all successfully warped away. No Soldier Left Behind

Later, Laserbeak and Frenzy trolled the Autobots by sending them several selfies of them fooling around on Prowl’s ship. The last photo revealed that Soundwave was less than pleased with their antics. Fire and Ice

Upon returning to Cybertron, the Decepticons fell under the sway of Liege Maximo. The disgraced Prime plotted to conquer the galaxy and convert other planets into energy for the dying Cybertron. Laserbeak and most of the other cons encountered Twitch and her group in the wilderness near their fortress, with a fight ensuing. During the fight Laserbeak got blasted by Twitch. The fight ended when the cons captured Dot, Alex, and Thrash, forcing the others to retreat. Later, Soundwave and the cassettes gathered with Hot Rod at the Well of Sparks when Liege prepared to enact his plan. When an overeager Robby exposed the spying Autobots' position, the cassettes attacked Bumblebee. Liege successfully used the Emberstone and the Enigma of Combination to begin consuming several nearby planetoids. Once Liege learned Optimus's location by probing Robby’s mind, he ordered Soundwave to imprison the Autobots. Once the Allspark was revealed to be intact, despite what Liege had told them, all the Decepticons abandoned Liege.  Legacy of Hope

Notes

[edit]
  • This is the first animated depiction in a western Transformers cartoon to have Laserbeak speak in fluent English.
  • His Peanut Gallery-esque commentaries with Frenzy seems to be based on the dynamic the 2005 IDW continuity Laserbeak had with fellow cassette Buzzsaw.
