After the discovery of a Cybertronian cylinder at Hawthorne Army Depot, it was given to Lindsay and his technicians to study. They determined that it used the same trans-spacial porting technology Jetfire had used to travel to Egypt, but the cylinder was damaged and they were unable to make it work. After Kevin Bowman unearthed a second cylinder, Lindsay studied it and found it was operational, but only had enough power for one use. Battle Mountain

Lindsay and his team continued to analyze the cylinder, introducing small amounts of power so they could map its internal workings. During one such test, the cylinder unexpectedly powered up to 600%. General Marcus ordered the cylinder be transported to a secure vault near Yucca Mountain, and Lindsay was "persuaded" by Kevin and Gears to let them go along. The convoy was ambushed en route by Reverb, however Lindsay survived the attack. With the cylinder on the verge of activating, help came when Douglas Porter supplied Lindsay with the necessary codes to direct the cylinder's destination point.
