Longview (Movie)

This article is about the Autobot Real Gear Robot. For the Decepticon Mini-Con, see Longview (Universe){{#switch:{{#sub:Longview (Universe)|-1}} != .= ?= .

Longview is an Autobot Real Gear Robot from the Transformers portion of the movie continuity family.
I predict continuity issues.

Longview is one of many small robots who was once a normal machine brought to life by the power of the AllSpark. Not only has he got super-duper eyes for which to spy on Decepticons, but apparently he can predict the future! He's just that smart.

Fiction

Titan movie comics

[edit]

Longview was held as a prisoner of war in an automated Decepticon outpost on Cybertron, some time prior to the AllSpark's launch into space. He was rescued by a team of raw Autobot recruits being trained by Ironhide. Lost In Space 3: Ironhide

Transformers (2007)

[edit]
Longview always has his 'nocs.
  • Longview (Real Gear Robots, 2007)
Part of the first wave of Transformers Real Gear Robots, Longview transforms into a set of yellow binoculars. While he is constructed to allow light to shine all the way from the lens to the eyepiece, the image is way too small and blurry to see much of anything.
He features a flip-up/down panel that reveals a viewscreen; the Hasbro version shows Cybertron Crumplezone in assault-vehicle mode (though upside-down), while the Takara version has Bumblebee's head and shoulders (oriented right side up). This panel is accessible in both binocular and robot mode; the panel forms his chest in robot mode, meaning he can open up and tilt his head down (via the transformation joint) to take a look at it... but with the Hasbro version's upside-down sticker, he's looking at an upside-down image. Oops.
Like all Real Gear Robots toys, his robot mode is apparently at 1:1 scale... but he is a dang small pair of binoculars.
This mold was also used to make Farsight T-20.

  • Robo Recon Team (Multi-pack, 2007)
Longview was also available in a Walmart exclusive two-pack with Spy Shot 6. Both toys are identical to their individual releases.

Notes

[edit]
  • The appearance of Crumplezone in the Hasbro Longview's imager is evidence of the Real Gear Robots' original release plan as late-series additions to the Cybertron toyline.
  • Longview is one of only two Real Gear Robots to not have some kind of "serial number" added to their name, the other being Meantime.
