Manteaufrenzy

Manteaufrenzy is a Laser Beast from the Generation 1 continuity family.
He will get that damn Weasel.

The eldest member of the Shield Battler-6, Manteaufrenzy (マントフレンジー Mantofurenjī) is in many respects the team's shadow leader. A veteran with many years of military experience, even team Captain Stronghurricane looks to him for advice. A quiet and restrained beast normally, he has a deep reserve of energy he taps into in combat, powering through any adversity without complaint, and inspiring his teammates to give their all to complete the mission.

Despite his age, he's still a very effective soldier, his body well-trained in melee combat. His Spike Manteau Laser (スパイクマントレーザー Supaiku Manto Rēzā) can fire concussive blasts that launch the struck target, pinning them to heavy objects and walls as if impaled by an invisible spike.

Laser Beasts

[edit]
  • Shield Battler-6 (Gift set, 1988)
  • ID number: 99
  • Accessories: "Spike Manteau Laser", shield
Released in the post-Transformers "RPG"-themed Beastformers toyline, Manteaufrenzy is an anthropomorphic Hamadryas baboon in high-tech blue armor. He has a transparent orb in his torso, revealing the elemental power of Fire, Water, or Wood when held up to a light source.
Aside from his "Spike Manteau Laser" MVP Weapon, he comes with a unique baboon-themed shield that can clip to his arm. This shield also be slotted into the front of a W Battler sled, and have Manteaufrenzy's rifle mounted on the top via its handle, forming an armed chariot he can ride.
Manteaufrenzy was only available as part of the "Shield Battler-6" gift set, along with Battlefennec, Fighthorn, Grencats, Killerhound, Stronghurricane, and two W Battler sleds. It is possible he was released as an individual "Battle Charger" in the super-late-run European-release Hasbro Battle Beasts line (he was slated to per the Pre-Toy Fair 1988 catalogue), but no packaged samples have yet been found to confirm this.

Notes

[edit]
  • Manteaufrenzy's name is derived from the Japanese name for the [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Hamadryas baboon|{{#if:||Hamadryas baboon}}]], mantohihi (マント狒狒 or マントヒヒ, lit. "mantle baboon"), which uses the French loanword manteau that means "mantle" in English. And that is your daily linguistic lesson.
  • It is unknown what Manteaufrenzy's Hasbro Battle Beasts name would have been.
