New York Comic Con

The New York Comic Con is an annual New York City fan convention. Hasbro occasionally debuts new product at the event, and sometimes various exclusive Transformers merchandise is made for it.
2008
[edit]
- Thundercracker (Diamond Select, 2008)
- Released by Diamond Select Toys in 2008, Thundercracker was first exclusive to the New York Comic Con and later on offered by online retailer Big Bad Toy Store. He was sculpted by Mark Wong of Art Asylum and limited to 400 pieces.

[edit]- IDW Transformers #12
- A variant cover version of IDW Publishing's Transformers ongoing #12 by Casey Coller was available at New York Comic Con 2010.
2011
[edit]
- Bumblebee and Arcee, Includes Raf Esquivel and Jack Darby
- Arcee is a redeco of Deluxe Class Arcee in pink and white Generation 1 Arcee colors and comes with a New York taxicab Bumblebee and NY-themed Jack Darby and Raf Esquivel figurines. This set was first exclusive to New York Comic Con 2011, then offered through Hasbro Toy Shop.

- Transformers Cuponk
- A Transformers-themed version of Hasbro's Cuponk game was also available at the convention, with leftovers finding their way to Hasbro Toy Shop afterward. The set includes two cups, one each with Optimus and Megatron, and 6 tampographed ping pong balls: one each of the Autobot and Decepticon insignias and the faces of Megatron, Optimus, Starscream, and Bumblebee. All Decepticon balls are painted in purple, while the Autobots are in red. The set also included special variants of the game's trick cards with Transformers characters in place of the original designs used for the same tricks.

- Bumblebee Nerf Barricade RV-10
- A redeco of the Nerf Barricade RV-10, the Bumblebee Nerf Barricade RV-10 is (surprise!) predominantly yellow and black, and covered in decals depicting panel scans from IDW's Bumblebee comic. The weapon is fully automatic and has a revolving barrel that can hold ten whistler darts.

[edit]Pre-NYCC Hasbro Event
[edit]MediaWiki was invited to Hasbro's 2012 NYCC Preview Night Party at Studio 450 on Wednesday, October 10, and wiki contributors Thylacine 2000 and Tonyfitz attended.
Coverage
[edit]- According to the Hasbro representative at the NYCC Preview Night Party, the black and orange dragon Transformer is Predaking, leader of the Predacons.
- There will be many more Predacon toys than Star Seekers. The latter group was invented in the books and there is "no strong driving force" to really explore them in the toyline. The Predacon faction will be a big deal, with big merch push.
- Predaking himself pretty much confirmed at multiple sizes / pricepoints.
Exclusive
[edit]- Clear Energon Bumblebee Kreon
- An exclusive New York Comic Con 2012 handout, this redeco of the Bumblebee Kreon is done entirely in translucent blue plastic, and comes in its own special little window box with an outer sleeve.

[edit]Panels
[edit]- Hasbro Toy Panel - Action Brands - October 10
- Hasbro's shared panel for pretty much every brand not under license from Disney, featuring the grand unveiling of the much-anticipated Studio Series Transformers the Movie Soundwave, updates on much of the product revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, and the reveal of the 2026 theme for the fan-channel exclusive Timelines toyline: "Age of Samurai." Featuring Marketer Emily Bader, Studio Series Designer Evan Brooks, and many, many, non-Transformers people, including Transformers alumnus Lenny Panzica representing G.I. Joe.
- Transformers & G.I. Joe: A New Era for The Energon Universe - October 11
- Skybound Entertainment's presentation on their "Energon Universe" family of Transformers and adjacent titles. Featuring Ben Abernathy (Energon Universe editor), Robert Kirkman (Void Rivals and Transformers writer, Energon Universe "showrunner") Joshua Williamson (G. I. Joe, writer), Tom Reilly (G.I. Joe, artist), Dan Mora (Transformers, artist), Jorge Corona (Transformers, artist), and Conor Hughes (Void Rivals, artist).
Hasbro Pulse streams
[edit]2025 saw Hasbro maintain the format of that year's SDCC in the form of a pre-recorded recap livestream of their own toy panel and nothing else:
- October 10's Hasbro Action Brands NYCC 2025 Fanstream | Hasbro Pulse on YouTube, with Evan Brooks and Nate Purswell.
Exclusive toys
[edit]
- A boxed set taking the slot of the year's nonexistent Hasbro PulseCon exclusive debuting at NYCC and subsequently acting as a globe-trotting shared exclusive at the UK's MCM London, Italy's Lucca Comics & Games and Brazil's CCXP. The set consists of a "Armada Nemesis Prime" redeco of 2023's Legacy Armada Universe Optimus Prime core cab robot minus the original release's trailer/Super Mode pants but featuring a gnarly new faceless head homaging Nemesis's brief appearance in the Armada cartoon along with the second Generations incarnation of the Armada Star Saber, at last resplendent in its full glory as fully featured updates of the Mini-Cons Runway, Jetstorm and Sonar.
