Newman is a genius with numbers. His ability to be cool under the direst of circumstances has Aaron Brooks wondering if he has ice water for blood. Newman works at a radio telescope monitoring station in the Mojave Desert.

When the station's monitoring alarms went off, detecting an inbound object, Brooks asked Newman if it was going to hit Earth. Newman though for a moment, but decided it was too close to call. After the object hit the Moon, Newman coolly pointed out that the object was not a meteor or anything else familiar to science, and was quite possibly alien.
