Plot points derived exclusively from the Super Link version of the Energon cartoon are in italics.

There are hundreds of identical Omnicons, and large squads of them with identical body types are very common. However, they are not drones, but individuals with full capabilities for independent thought. They are led by Arcee, who has a unique bodyframe among the Omnicons.

The Omnicons were originally Autobots and Decepticons that left Cybertron to follow Rodimus into space. Rather than continue to battle, they learned how to co-exist with one another and put their skills into mining and processing energon, evolving into Omnicons as time passed. Only a select few knew of the Omnicons' origins, such as Primus. Survival Instincts

Energon comic

[edit]

The Omnicons were created by Over-Run during " a time of expansion" on Cybertron, in the wake of Unicron and Megatron's defeat. This Evil Reborn The Mini-Con attempted to educate them in the use of their energon-manipulating abilities, occasionally throwing a curve-ball at them as demonstration they could be more than they were. Omni-Potent When Optimus Prime came to talk with Over-Run about his concerns of a reborn Unicron, he encountered the Omnicons, who were not terribly impressed with him. This Evil Reborn

Shortly afterwards, Cybertron came under attack from Unicron's Four Horsemen, and Over-Run sent the Omnicons to assist Prime and impart to him a valuable lesson about his own capabilities. The Omnicons' own energon abilities were able to help drive off the Horsemen. What Lies Beneath, Part Two The Omnicons soon followed Prime and his troops to Earth, where they helped fight Scorponok and his Terrocons, as well as recovering the captive Kicker Jones. What Lies Beneath, Part Four

The Omnicons remained on Earth with the Autobots. However, their lack of social skills, understanding of humans and general cluelessness quickly proved frustrating. After an incident where they tried mining for energon in downtown Chicago, Optimus had them reassigned to Base Site One, located in the Yukon, on the grounds there surely wasn't any harm they could do there. However, within seconds of arriving the group managed to damage valuable equipment, frazzling Hot Shot's last nerve, and he told them to get lost. So they did. Heading out into the Canadian wilderness, they soon chanced upon an unusual energy reading, which they followed to a trap set by the rogue Decepticon Snow Cat. He immobilized them and hooked them up to a Spark Rewriter, but the process caused the group to have a meeting of the minds with a representation of Over-Run, who berated them for their sheer idiocy and told them to work out a solution. So they did. Inspired to be less reckless, and understand the planet around them, the quartet broke free and drove Snow Cat off. However, the terrain gave him an advantage, which inspired them to do the same with him, incapacitating the Decepticon via detonating a pocket of energon just underneath a deposit of natural gas. Omni-Potent

While assisting Kicker in mining energon in the Black Sea, the team were attacked and swiftly incapacitated by Mirage, formerly Tidal Wave, who was looking to abduct Kicker for his backer, Alpha Quintesson. Multiplicity However, Kicker's talents proved stronger than his would-be abductors expected, and he was able to overpower them and revive the Omnicons, who swiftly drove the Decepticons away. Multiplicity, Pt. 3 Multiplicity, Pt. 4

Energon ceased publication before the story could conclude. The following would have taken place in unpublished issues.

When Over-Run realized the reconstituted Starscream intended to feast on him and his connection to Cybertron, he tried summoning the Omnicons to protect himself. Armageddon Part 1 However, they arrived too late to prevent him seemingly killing their mentor, and their energon weapons merely fed Starscream. Their escaping made him stronger still, but as they fled Strongarm hit upon an idea of repeating their mind meld. This time, when Starscream attempted to absorb their energon, they turned it back on him, reverting him back to solid matter, as well as his regular cowardly self. Armageddon Part 2 In truth, however, Starscream had been a pawn of Alpha Quintesson, and with Over-Run's death he could begin his plan of an invasion of Cybertron in full. Lost, the Omnicons tried seeking advice from their late mentor, and found a message from him telling them that to fight off the Quintessons, they would have to access the core of Cybertron, and to do that, they needed a Prime, and Optimus had gone missing.

Fortunately, at the same time, Optimus had been rescued from the bowels of Unicron, and with his help the Omnicons were able to access the core and empower the entire population of Cybertron. Armageddon Part 5

Skyblast
The Omnicons, along with their counterparts the Terrorcons, were sold carded, and filled the $7 price point previously filled by the Mini-Cons in Armada. They transform into futuristic/fanciful Earthly vehicles. Each comes with a translucent colored "Energon weapon", which can be combined and assembled in multiple configurations. The Omnicons and Terrorcons marked the return of the Basic size class in practice if not in name, which had not been part of the Armada toyline.
