McDonald's

[edit]
  • Optimus Prime (McDonald's Happy Meal, 2002)
A simple toy even by McDonald's Happy Meal standards, this version of Prime transforms into a trailer-less truck cab. He is formed out of a large percentage of translucent plastic, and can combine with the other Happy Meal Armada toys (Hot Shot, Red Alert, and Smokescreen) into a human (well, robot) pyramid-style configuration, notionally considered a "Mighty Robot".
A yellow switch on his back activates a simple punching gimmick on his right arm. Additionally, holding his fists near a lamp will make them glow in the dark.

Jesus and Santa rolled into one.
  • Optimus Prime (McDonald's Happy Meal, 2004-2006)
    • Accessories: Energon Cube, "Mini-Con" remote
The Happy Meal version of Energon Optimus Prime features a very similar transformation sequence to his larger figure, though his limited articulation means that his shoulder insignias aren't visible in robot mode when his arms are facing forward. His torso is hollow to contain his electronic "Energon Cube" accessory, which generates effects when activated by remote control. This remote is in the form of the Mini-Con jet Wreckage, and can mount on the top of his cab in truck form.
Unreleased in the United States, Prime and his fellow Happy Meal toys initially appeared in (at least) the Netherlands in September 2004, before making their way to the United Kingdom in February 2005, to New Zealand in March, and to Australia in November.
In 2006, the figure was also released in Brazil, albeit as a variant: this one was missing the Energon Cube and even had the plastic tab that holds the cube removed. In addition, the gray plastic is a slightly different shade, and the facial details are a lot crisper.<ref name="happymeal">Comparison of both versions of the Happy Meal Energon Optimus Prime figure</ref>

  • Optimus Prime (McDonald's Happy Meal, 2005)
Part of the second Energon Happy Meal promotion, which was only available in some Latin America markets. Optimus Prime features a spring-loaded transformation to robot mode. Given his limited release, he's very rare.

Burger King

[edit]

  • Optimus Prime (Burger King kids meal, 2005)
Available in kids' meals from Burger King, this Optimus Prime transforms into the character's basic fire engine "cab", lacking a trailer or a Super Mode. Made entirely from blue and red plastic, he features only the tiniest token amount of paint, which is used on his windows and wheels, the latter of which are merely molded details and do not roll.

Jollibee

[edit]

  • Optimus Prime (Jollibee Kids Meal, 2007)
    • Accessories: Cup topper stand
Released in Jollibee's "Robot Blasters" promotion, Optimus Prime is a simplified rendition of the Legends of Cybertron figure, missing several joints and shaving off a few transformation steps in the process. Like all four pieces in this set, Optimus comes with a stand with his name and faction symbol sculpted on one side and the Cybertron logo on the other. This stand can also be used to cover up a regular-sized cup from a fast food joint.

Super Collection Figure

[edit]
A three-inch tall non-transforming PVC figurine of Optimus Prime in his smaller cab-robot form was released in the Armada-specific ninth "Act" of Takara's Super Collection Figure line.
The figure came in both full color and metallic silver "pewter" variants, available at an equal ratio one each in every case of twelve blindpacked figures.
The pewter version of the figure has a potential problem with connector peg breakage, due to said pegs often getting a layer of pewter paint before being forced into a socket, leading to sticking and tearing. Care should be used when moving or removing the arms; shaving down the socket interior with a thin hobby knife is usually sufficient to fix the issue.

A rare "Secret Figure" of Optimus in his Cybertronian body, as seen in the first two episodes of the Armada cartoon, was also available in the ninth Super Collection Figure wave. This figure has a new torso, shoulders, and arm-pipes, and omits the wheels on his legs. It could only be found in one out of every ten cases, taking the place of the full-color version of the regular Prime figure in that assortment.

  • Convoy Super Mode (March 2003)
    • Act: 10
    • Accessories: Stand
A PVC of Prime in his Super Mode was part of the tenth Super Collection Figure wave, continuing the Armada theme of the previous one. As with the first figure, he was available in both full colour and pewter variants, one of each of which could be found in every case of twelve blindpacked figures.
All of the Act-10 SCF figurines use considerably softer, more rubbery plastic than the previous assortments. This leads to some difficulty in keeping some figures standing, plus the pewter versions can be extremely hard to peg back together, as the pegs will just squash rather than pop into the sockets. This also leads to a greater risk of mushroom-pegs tearing on the pewter versions if the paint sticks together within the sockets.

Just different enough to make you mad.
  • Convoy Super Mode w/ Star Saber[citation needed]{{#ifeq: ||}} (March 2003)
    • Act: 10
    • Accessories: Stand
Prime filled one of the chase figure slots for the tenth wave as well. This rare figure is nearly identical to the regular Super Mode PVC, except instead of wielding his Convoy Gun, Prime was armed with the Star Saber sword, cast in clear-blue plastic (and considerably firmer plastic than the rest of the figure).
As with the previous chase figure, it could only be found in one out of every ten cases, and took the place of the full-colour Prime figure in that assortment.

Mega Super Collection Figure

[edit]
  • Convoy Supermode (2002)
    • ID number: 08
    • Accessories: Prime Mini-Con, Convoy Gun, two clenched fists, two open hands
A five-inch tall, non-transforming highly-articulated PVC figure of Optimus Prime in his Super Mode was the eighth entry in Takara's Mega Super Collection Figure series. In addition to a non-transforming figurine of Sparkplug, Optimus comes with two sets of alternate hands—one set with spread palms, one curled into fists—and is armed with his Convoy Gun, which can either peg into his right fist (and only his right fist) or onto his back.

  • Convoy Normal Mode (2003)
    • ID number: 12
    • Accessories: Star Saber, Convoy Gun
A Mega Super Collection Figure of Prime in his "normal mode" was released a few months after the first figure. He came with a translucent blue Star Saber, and a much larger version of the Convoy Gun accessory, creating a sense of comparative scale, even though he's the same height as the Super Mode figure. Like the Super Mode figure, only his right fist has a peg-hole in it, so he can't hold both weapons at once.

Q-Robo Collection

[edit]
  • Convoy (2003)
Optimus Prime was one of only two Armada-theme figures in the otherwise Generation 1-centric Q-Robo Collection line of super deformed PVC figurines, the other being Armada Megatron. Like all the figures in the series, Prime featured articulation in the neck and shoulders, and was also available in a translucent colored plastic: as an Autobot, Optimus came in translucent red, but was also uniquely available in a golden metallic "pewter" variant as the wave's solitary rare chase figure. All Q-Robo figures were sold in sets of two, one full-color figure and one translucent one, blindpacked in a plastic capsule.

Big Transformers

[edit]
  • Convoy (2003)
    • ID number: 1
    • Accessories: Convoy Gun
A non-transforming PVC figurine of Optimus Prime was released by Japanese confectionery company Kabaya in the first wave of their Big Transformers line of candy toys. He comes armed with his "Convoy Gun", and was packaged with fizzy "Ramune" candy.
  • Convoy Super Mode (2003)
    • ID number: 2
    • Accessories: Prime Mini-Con
The first wave of Big Transformers also included a figure of Prime in his Super Mode. In addition to being able to hold the standard figure's Convoy Gun, Super Mode Prime comes with an unpainted figurine of vehicle mode Sparkplug that can attach to the hardpoints on his shoulders, or to any of the other figures in the wave.
  • Jet Convoy (2003)
    • ID number: 1
A figure of Prime combined with Jetfire was released as part of the second Big Transformers wave, which came with no accessories of its own, but could hold any of the weapons released with the other second wave figures, including Jetfire's gun, the Star Saber, the Skyboom, and the Requiem Blaster. As with the first wave figures, he came packaged with Ramune candy.

Mini Car Collection

[edit]
No-Parkimus Prime on the left, and Pickupmus Prime on the right.
  • Convoy (die-cast vehicle, 2003)
French die-cast model producers Majorette teamed with Kabaya to produce the Transformers Mini Car Collection, a line of Armada-themed die-cast vehicles, all of which were redecos of pre-existing Majorette toys. Prime was a redeco of Majorette toy #256—a long-nosed tow truck—in his traditional red and blue, now bearing the Autobot insignia, the Legends of the Microns logo, and an image of the Autobot leader on its hood. The toy came with a pack of gum.
  • Convoy Super Mode (die-cast vehicle, 2003)
A second die-cast vehicle representing Prime was also part of the Mini Car Collection, this one a red redeco of Majorette toy #291, a Chevrolet K-10 pick-up. To distinguish it from the other Optimus vehicle, this one is randomly allocated the "Super Mode" label, and features an image of the leader in his powered-up form on is hood in addition to the Autobot symbol and series logo.

Transformers Figure

[edit]
  • Convoy (2003)
A non-transforming 5" PVC figurine of Optimus Prime was released by Omron Entertainment as part of their simply-named Transformers Figure line of gaming arcades prizes. Despite there being a nationwide commercial for the figures, their distribution was poor, and not many arcades actually wound up carrying them.

Transformers Die Cast Figure

[edit]
  • Convoy (2003)
In addition to their range of PVCs, Omron also released a small line of solid die-cast metal figures. A golden version of Optimus was part of this Die Cast Figure line, clocking in at about 3.5" tall.

Mascot Keychain

[edit]
  • Convoy (2003)
Omron also released a series of 2.5" tall Armada-themed PVC figurines as the Mascot Keychain line, including Optimus Prime.

Transformers Strap

[edit]
  • Convoy (2003)
Omron's keychains were not limited to soft plastic, with die-cast versions of the same characters from the Mascot Keychain line being made available in their Transformers Strap range. This Prime is pretty much identical to the Die Cast Figure version of the character, just a little smaller—about 2.5" in height—and with the addition of a keychain with a wrist-strap.

Battle for Cybertron Game

[edit]
  • Transformers: Armada - Battle for Cybertron Game (2003)
A small figurine of Optimus Prime was among the eight Transformers character playing pieces included with the Milton Bradley Battle for Cybertron board game.

Panini Armada comic free toy

[edit]
  • -- (2003)
The cancelled 10th issue of the Panini Armada comic was to come with either a free glowing self-assembly Megatron or Super Mode Optimus Prime model.

Flashlight Keychain

[edit]
  • Transformers Armada Flashlight Keychain
Distributed by Basic Fun, this keychain is a likeness of Prime's Armada form. It has rotation joints at the neck and shoulders. Pressing a button on Prime's back activates a light located between his feet. He has a keychain protruding from between his shoulder blades. Handy!

Bubble Twist

[edit]
  • Optimus Prime (2003)
A small solid-color PVC figurine of Optimus Prime in Super Mode was among the blindpacked toys available with Bubble Twist bubble gum, produced by Hasbro's subsidiary Cap Candy and only available at Toys"R"Us. Like all figures in the series, Optimus was available in red, blue, purple, grey and black.

DX Transformers

[edit]
  • Grand Convoy (2004)
    • ID number: 1
    • Accessories: Convoy Gun
This small version of Energon Optimus Prime was released by Kabaya as part of their DX Transformers line of candy toys. Prime transforms in the same manner as the larger Energon figures do, though his arms have to be removed at the shoulder and reinserted into his back to form truck mode. The Prime Force were sold in a separate set in the DX Transformers series, and can combine with Prime to form his Super Mode. Optimus came with a stick of gum.

Pla-Kit Collection

[edit]
  • Grand Convoy Super Mode (Pla-Kit Collection, 2004)
    • ID number: PKS 01
    • Accessories: Fire-1, Gyro-2, Digger-3, Submarine-4, Convoy Gun, 3 "bullets", Energon star, standard robot mode feet (x2), standard mode head, Super Mode head, antenna
This miniature model kit of Energon Optimus Prime comes unassembled and unpainted, moulded mainly from white, red and black ABS plastic and featuring some stickers for essential detail. Standing at around 4.5 inches tall, he comes with his Prime Force drones and can combine with them in the usual ways; while Fire-1, Gyro-2 and Digger-3 are moulded in their normal colours, Submarine-4 is stuck being black, and like every other non-color-molded, non-stickered detail on the kit, must be painted by the buyer. Prime's transformation involves removing his feet and head (an alternate Super Mode head is included, as his antenna does not transform into a helmet), and he does not come with a trailer for the Prime Force, but his gun can shoot small orange plastic BBs via a pressure-launching mechanism, and he comes with a small gold-chromed Energon star that fits onto his left shoulder. The kit also comes with "Episode 1" of the "Optimus Prime VS Scourge" mini-comic, printed on the back of the instructions.
The kit was later redecoed into Grand Convoy Super Mode White Version (see below) and Grand Scourge, which came with episode 2 of the Convoy VS Scourge story.
  • Grand Convoy Super Mode White Version (Pla-Kit Collection, 2004)
    • Accessories: Fire-1, Gyro-2, Digger-3, Submarine-4, Convoy Gun, 3 "bullets", Energon star, standard robot mode feet (x2), standard mode head, Super Mode head, antenna
A redeco (or should that be de-deco?) of the Grand Convoy Super Mode Pla-Kit, Grand Convoy Super Mode White Version was available exclusively on July 17th and 18th at the Japanese convention, Kodansha Super Chara Festival 2004 ("K-Fest"). It is a solid white version of the normal model kit, possessing all the features of the normal figure, which was intended to be used in a customization/painting contest held at the convention. It lacks the comic of the normal release.
The Grand Convoy Pla-Kit was also used to make Grand Scourge.

Super Real Figure

[edit]
  • Wing Convoy Super Real Figure (TV-Kun exclusive, 2004)
Wing Convoy Super Real Figure (ウイングコンボイ 超リアルフィギュア, Wing Convoy chou Real Figure) is a PVC of Optimus Prime combined with Wing Saber in Flight Mode. It was sold exclusively with the August issue of TV-Kun magazine, first on sale July 1st, 2004.

I sure am Optimus Prime. Yesiree.
  • Wing Convoy Original Figure (JUSCO exclusive, 2004)
A redeco of the Wing Convoy Super Real Figure, Wing Convoy Original Figure (ウイングコンボイ オリジナルフィギュア) was available at JUSCO department stores starting on July 30th 2004. The figure was available with purchase of a Wing Saber figure, and came in a plastic baggie, rather unattractively scotch-taped inside the toy's packaging. A sticker was placed on Wing Saber's packaging to note the promotion.
Despite being sold as Wing Convoy/Optimus Prime, the figure's color scheme bears a striking resemblance to that of Grand Scourge, whose model kit was on sale the same month.

Chupa Chups

[edit]
That's pretty barbaric, isn't it? Poor bastard.
  • Transformers Armada Spin Pop Candy (2004)
Produced by the Chupa Chups lollipop company, this small version of Prime is essentially a battery-powered "holder" for lollipops, which fit behind his head and are spun around by a motor that activates when his pelvis is pressed. Prime has articulation in his shoulders, and his fists feature small holes that allow him to hold and store two more lollipops, in addition to the strawberry sucker he comes with. Weirdly, his Matrix compartment is open instead of having the grill front-and-center.

  • Optimus Prime (2006)
This opening clamshell case of Cybertron Optimus Prime's head contains a Chupa Chups lollipop inside, and has a clasp attached to it that can be hooked to your belt or backpack.

  • Transformers Cybertron Mini Spin Pop Candy (2006)
This Cybertron spin pop consists of a generic handle with an Optimus Prime sticker, topped with a figurine of Prime through which the included lollipop slots. When the handle is squeezed, a manual gear mechanism spins both the figure and lollipop—no batteries necessary! The handle was also redecoed in orange for a Megatron spin pop, with a figure of the Decepticon leader on top.

Hyper Transformers

[edit]
  • Wing Convoy Cannon Mode (2004)
    • ID number: 2
    • Accessories: Shoulder cannons (x2)
Kabaya's second candy toy of Energon Optimus Prime was released as part of the Hyper Transformers series. This non-transforming figurine depicts Prime in his lesser-seen combined mode with Wing Saber: "Fight Mode", as Hasbro called it, or "Cannon Mode" in Japan. The figure's shoulder cannons came on a separate sprue in-package and had to be removed by the buyer. Prime's head can be removed and attached to the Hyper Transformers Omega Supreme figure, creating Optimus Supreme. As a candy toy, Prime came with a stick of gum.

Energon Figure Pen

[edit]
"Standing up—my one weakness!"
  • Transformers Energon Figure pen (2004)
The Transformers Energon figure pen is based on Optimus Prime in his standard Energon body. About the size of a scout class toy, he transforms from truck mode to robot mode almost identically to his mainline toys, apart from the fact that his feet contain the pen and cannot bend. It's really hard to write with, and almost impossible to pose, even though it has full arm articulation. Amusingly, this figure can position itself to transform into his super robot mode (by flipping his helmet on, opening his chest and flipping his hands in), but because there are no versions of the Prime Force drones in this scale, it's impossible to complete him.
The pen was manufactured and distributed by Stylus.

Role-Play

[edit]
"What's this? Hot Shot's blaster — but why is he giving it to you?"
  • Optimus Prime Energon Blaster (2004)
    • Accessories: Foam Micro Darts (x3)
In real-life, the Energon Blaster fires suction-cup-tipped Nerf Micro Darts. It can also "transform" by extending itself, as seen to the right.
This toy was redecoed into the "Optimus Prime Blaster" in the 2007 movie toyline.

Hyper Galaxy

[edit]
  • Galaxy Convoy (2005)
    • ID number: 1
    • Accessories: Rifle
The first of several Cybertron-themed candy toys articulated, a non-transforming figure of Cybertron Optimus Prime was released by Kabaya as part of their small Hyper Galaxy line of candy toys. The figure came with a stick of gum.

  • Galaxy Convoy Super Mode (2005)
    • ID number: 2
    • Accessores: Left and right cannons.
The Hyper Galaxy series also included a figurine of Optimus Prime in his Super Mode. Rather than swivel, Prime's distinctive twin cannons are instead removable, pegging to either his arms or the backs of his wings. This figure also came with chewing gum.

Blockformers

[edit]
  • Galaxy Convoy (2005)
    • ID number: 1
    • Accessories: Rifle, left and right leg armor, left and right leg guns, left and right missile pods
This Kabaya candy toy of Cybertron Optimus Prime transformed into cab mode through disassembling into its component pieces and being rebuilt, hence the line's name of Blockformers. He came with his hand-held rifle, and a stick of chewing gum. Each figure in the Blockformers line came with additional pieces that could combine with Prime to either make his trailer in vehicle mode, or convert his robot form into Super Mode. Prime himself came with his missile pod/shoulder brackets, his leg armor and guns, his right cannon came with Leobreaker, his backpack and wings came with Override, his Super Mode head came with Scourge, and his left cannon came with Evac.

Change Galaxy

[edit]
  • Galaxy Convoy (2005)
    • ID number: 1
    • Accessories: Rifle, left and right leg armor, Super Mode head
Optimus Prime was the central figure of Kabaya's final Cybertron candy toy series, Change Galaxy, which was themed around his combinations with Leobreaker and Wing Saber. In addition to being transformable (again, through partial disassembly), this figure of Prime combines with the Change Galaxy versions of his partners, forming Savage Claw Mode and Sonic Wing Mode. Prime himself came packaged with an alternate Super Mode head and his leg armour in order to complete his appearance in each of these forms. Additional Super Mode pieces were not created for this line, as that wasn't the point.

Gummy Candy

[edit]
  • Transformers Gummy Candy (2006)
Optimus Prime was one of three Transformers characters immortalized in Gummy Candy form by the Frankford Candy & Chocolate Company. Released during the time when Classics had just replaced Cybertron on the toy shelves, Prime's candy depicts him in his Cybertron body, alongside Generation 1 Bumblebee and a kooky Cybertron/Classics Megatron cross-breed. The candies were all sold individually in blister bubbles.

Attacktix

[edit]
  • Super Optimus Prime (Intergalactic Showdown, 2006)
ID number: SVT05
Rarity:
Faction: Autobot
Class: Leader
Special: Recover - 8/26 (31%) success ratio
Point Cost: 40
Base Speed: 4
Attack Type: Shooter (Heavy Energy Blast)

What can one say about a beast of a figure like Attacktix Super Optimus Prime? With the biggest missile, and probably the best defense in Attacktix, Super Optimus Prime is a devastating figure. This version of the figure is the Gold-based one available only in the Star Wars vs. Transformers pack.
The SVT05 version of Super Optimus Prime has a gold base and a different power to the Booster version. He's able to recover — standing up if you have another figure in play. In tournament play only one gold-based Attacktix figure may be used per team.
The mould has four points of articulation; head, shoulders and waist.

  • Super Optimus Prime (Booster, 2006)
ID number: TF13
Rarity:
Faction: Autobot
Class: Leader
Special: Transform - 8/26 (31%) success ratio
Point Cost: 40
Base Speed: 4
Attack Type: Shooter (Heavy Energy Blast)

The booster version of Super Optimus Prime is nearly identical to the normal version except that it has a black base and a different power. Its power allows you to summon Super Optimus Prime's vehicle form from your backups — transforming the figure.

  • Super Optimus Prime (Vehicle) (Booster, 2006)
ID number: TF14
Rarity:
Faction: Autobot
Class: Leader
Special: Transform - 20/26 (77%) success ratio
Point Cost: 30
Base Speed: 8
Attack Type: Shooter (Small Missile)

Based on Cybertron Optimus Prime's fire truck mode, this figure is basically a support figure for your Super Optimus Prime robot mode figures. The figure's very reliable Transform power allows a player to get the expensive 40 point Super Optimus Prime figure into play for only 30 points.
The vehicle mode figure sits on a raised platform that can rotate 360 degrees, and his ladder has limited articulation. His high speed makes him one of the fastest shooters in the game.

  • Super Optimus Prime (Booster, 2007)
ID number: TF15
Rarity:
Faction: Autobot
Class: Warrior
Special: Recruit -
Point Cost: 50
Base Speed: 6
Attack Type:

A redeco of Super Optimus Prime in a scheme evoking the Heroes of Cybertron "Spark Attack" Apex Armor Optimus Prime PVC was planned for the second wave of Attacktix boosters. Like the rest of the figures in that assortment, it never saw release.
The version of this piece seen at the Star Wars Celebration IV convention was translucent, not opaque, indicating that the stock photograph used an early painted mock-up.
