Each recruit receives a new tool that their individual spark picks for them. However, Hot Shot is not happy with his and convinces Wedge to swap. However, they soon discover that their 'spark' knows best.
Synopsis
[edit]Perceptor scans the device found in the vault and confirms it's the Sparksayer, an ancient Cybertronian relic that scans a Bot's spark and provides them with a tool they'll need. Optimus Prime has approved the recruits to be the first to use it. It bestows Hoist with a plasma cutter, Medix with a magnetic power projector, Whirl with a polyvisor, and Wedge with an auger. Hot Shot is excited to see what he'll get until it turns out to be a combicannon, a device for mixing and projecting compounds.
Ratchet has the recruits carry out a sim mission to try out their new tools, dealing with Tough Luck Chuck posing as a businessman stuck in a lift. The recruits enthusiastically set about deploying their tools to rescue Chuck, all except Hot Shot who halfheartedly attempts to use his combicannon to create a cushion at the bottom of the lift shaft. They successfully extract Chuck, but in the process the lift falls, resulting in Hot Shot being covered in the gunk he's created. Hot Shot lodged a complaint with Heatwave that the other recruits got better tools, but Heatwave responds that maybe he should give his new tool a chance.
Hot Shot immediately goes and manages to persuade Wedge to trade tools so he can "see an expert in action" with the combicannon. A convenient rescue soon pops up—there's a volcano about to erupt endangering some nearby towns. The recruits head to the volcano where Whirl uses her polyvisor and realizes it's a lot closer to erupting than they thought. The other recruits are dismayed that Hot Shot and Wedge have swapped tools, but attempt to roll with it until it turns out the pair are unable to activate the traded tools. After hastily swapping back, Hot Shot successfully plugs the volcano, and once they deal with a tanker that's heading towards the lava flow, they return to base. Hot Shot apologizes for not giving his tool a chance and sprays Wedge with jello while Ratchet is unable to find Chuck who is still acting out his businessman character.

Notes
[edit]Continuity notes
[edit]- The Sparksayer was recovered from the vault back in "The Vault Of The Primes", the vault itself having been recovered from a crashed ship back in "Mission Dinobot".
- An inactive Scrub-A-Dubber can be seen in front of Heatwave's desk during the last scene.
Transformers references
[edit]- The title is the activation phrase of the energize tools from Rescue Bots. Those tools were developed by Boulder and Doc Greene, rather than automatically bestowed by a Cybertronian artifact.
Real-world references
[edit]- TBA
Continuity errors
[edit]- The recruits use the Sparksayer to create their Energize tools for the first time, although they've been previously seen in episodes including "The Great Energon Rush" and "Wild Ghost Chase", which were both produced and aired before this one.
Animation and technical errors
[edit]- TBA
Trivia
[edit]
- When Whirl tests out her new polyvisor for the first time, she looks around at her fellow recruits. Hoist, when looked at, yelps and covers his chest and crotch... as if there was anything there that needed covering.
- Text on Whirl's HUD at various points reads "SEARCHING", "DANGER", "INFRARED", "ACTIVITY", "MISSION".
- The sim mission location features several wall posters, one featuring Whirl standing near a city, and two featuring a Bot with Citadel Secundus in the background, with the text "CL" and "COLDLIGHT".
Foreign localization
