Powerglide is an Autobot from the Dark of the Moon portion of the movie continuity family.
But what Victoria's Secret model will play Astoria?

Powerglide possesses great bravery and showmanship and is so skillful in the air that ace human pilots are known to have studied his moves. His acrobatic prowess compensates for a lack of endurance and physical strength. Plus he's just not that smart.

Toys

Dark of the Moon

[edit]
His vehicle mode may look stable in these photos, but a slight breeze is enough to topple him.
  • Powerglide (Cyberverse Commander Class, 2011)
  • Series: 1
  • Number: 006
  • Japanese ID number: CV14
  • Accessories: 2 x Missile Pods
  • Known designers: Joe Kyde (Hasbro), Hisao Nishimoto (TakaraTomy){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
Part of the second wave of Dark of the Moon Cyberverse Commander single-pack toys, Powerglide is a near Scout-class-scale figure that transforms into a heavily-armed A-10 Thunderbolt II attack plane. His fists and hand-weapon are compatible with the C joint clip-weapon system. The two detachable missile pods can be combined to form an "assault weapon", which is basically his missile pods clumped together.
He has significant balance issues in vehicle mode. Specifically, he has a heavy tail/legs section, and while his landing gear can be tilted further back (beyond being pointed straight down), there are few possible landing gear configurations that can be made to prevent him from tipping over to his back with all his landing gear deployed. At best, you'll end up with his thighs touching the surface, or you'll end up retracting his front landing gear and have the cockpit touching the surface, instead.

Almost Bad Boy!
  • Ultimate Gift Set (Cyberverse multi-pack, 2011)
  • Accessories: 2 x Missile Pods
A green redeco of the individual release, this version of Powerglide comes in the Christmastime "Ultimate Gift Set", a Walmart exclusive pack of five redecoed Cyberverse figures including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Crowbar, and Powerglide himself.
Oddly, both the version seen in vehicle mode at BotCon 2011 and the stock photography on the back of the box show Powerglide with silver Decepticon symbols on his wings and silver arrows on his engines, whereas the retail toy has red stripes along his wings and red Autobot symbols on his engines. This original plan sure would have made the box set slightly more balanced fictionally.
Powerglide's online stock photography has the final toy's deco, but is mistransformed in vehicle mode, with the legs not moved up properly.

Notes

[edit]
  • Powerglide had a figure created for Bot Shots, a line which drew a great deal of inspiration from Dark of the Moon in its character choices and designs. Bot Shots Powerglide has a headsculpt similar to that of his Dark of the Moon design.
