Cyclonus plants a beacon into the Rayzor Nebula, which causes Scourge and his Sweeps to go on a wild goose chase thinking it is a genuine Autobot distress signal.
Hot Rod's ship arrives at the wreckage of Ultra Magnus's ship. Kup and Wheelie conclude that the nosecone was separated and landed on the Planet of Junk. They are attacked by Cyclonus. Inspired by his brief contact with the Matrix, Hot Rod invokes the Challenge of Aria-Bellum with Cyclonus. The two fight in single combat inside the ship's anterior propulsion silo. When Hot Rod starts to win, Cyclonus flees, admitting he is acting dishonorably. Meanwhile, Kup detected an Autobot science vessel in the nearby Rayzor Nebula and asks Grapple and Tracks to make themselves visible. This draws Scourge and the Sweeps into the combat. Scourge notices that Cyclonus is fighting Autobots and attacks Cyclonus, allowing the Autobots to escape. Hot Rod's ship lands on the Planet of Junk.
Most characters who have or are going to have a toy in either the Reveal the Shield or Generations lines use their new toy designs, while characters who aren't getting a new toy in either of those lines use their Generation 1 character model. The sole exceptions are Bumblebee, who uses something similar to his Generation 1 character model despite having a redeco of his Classics toy in the Reveal the Shieldsubline; and Tracks, who uses his original character model despite getting a brand spanking new toy also in Reveal the Shield. Notably, this was the first appearance of Warpath's new toy design, which had yet to be revealed (officially or unofficially!) at the time of the comic's release.
Grapple is spelled "Grapple" instead of his Reveal the Shield toy's name "Grappel". Whew.
Cyclonus complains that the troops Unicron promised to provide for him never materialized. This is also perhaps the only time Cyclonus ever talks about his life prior to having been recreated by Unicron, though of course no previous Decepticon warrior is singled out.
"Aria-Bellum" is probably meant to look like Latin for "solo combat", but it is gibberish. Bellum means "war", not "combat", while "aria" is not Latin and only means "solo" in the sense of the Italian/English term for a solo-voiced song. "Solo combat" can be expressed in Latin in several ways, but a preexisting term is Certamen Singulare. Alternatively, if "Aria-Bellum" is supposed to be poetic and reflect "song of war", the grammar is still off because that would require bellum to be rendered as belli.
Hot Rod/Rodimus is never referred to by name. This may be intentional since this comic is set in the cartoon continuity where his name is "Hot Rod", which, for the purposes of toy selling, Hasbro has been unable to trademark for a number of years.
There are two instances of Cybertronian language in the comic. The first labels the Planet of Junk as "Junkion" (duh) and the second says "Oh crap!" (The exclamation mark is the character for "Z" rotated 90 degrees.)
The Canadian release of the comic, in the same manner as the old Armada and Energonpack-in comics, shrinks the text down to fit in both English and French in the speech bubbles.
The European release of the comic is double the size, featuring the same story back to back as a flip cover comic, each with three languages pressed into the speech bubbles (which are increased in size), making for a total of six. One side is in English, French and German, the other one is in Spanish, Italian and Dutch.
On the first page which depicts the destruction of Ultra Magnus, a cassette player that resembles Blaster, in his "Twincast" colors, can be seen on the bottom of the page.
The German version actually refers to The Transformers: The Movie by its German title used for its 1994 TV premiere, instead of just literally translating the title. Hey, someone did their research!
Evidently, the readers have to accept that the character designs are changed from the film itself in order to sell toys. However, Rumble and Frenzy turn into tanks, which would definitely not fit into Soundwave's chest compartment.
In some copies of the comic, Kup calls Tracks both "Warpath" and "Lugnut".
In the multilingual Canadian and European releases, Tracks is referred to both times as "Warpath". Poor Tracks.
What made Kup think Scourge and Cyclonus would fight each other on sight?
On the last page, Arcee is colored solid magenta, and Wreck-Gar is blue with a green head.
So Tracks and Grapple are at the Battle of Autobot City, but they're also on the science vessel within the Razor Nebula. First of all, what the heck is Tracks doing on a science vessel? Second... what, Optimus Prime died like an hour ago, Autobot City is in ruins, and yet they've already split? To do Science? Either this is an error or Tracks and Grapple are the biggest jerks in the universe.
The coloured rectangles in front of Grimlock's arms change from red in the first panel he's in, to white in the next.
