Salvage is an Autobot from the Rescue Bots portion of the Aligned continuity family.
"I must deliver garbage to all!"

What many would regard as trash, Salvage regards as treasure. His ability to take objects which others would regard as useless and use them to build all manner of useful things is sure to be an asset in his training to become a Rescue Bot. In huge contrast to his companion Blurr, he's quiet and his actions tend to be carefully thought out.

Hi! I'm the big, brightly colored bot who's strong but has a soft side too. No, not that one. The other one. The other other one. Forget it.

Salvage and Blurr's ship crashed on Earth as the result of a meteor storm. While Salvage was attempting to save some cavemen, Blurr took the opportunity to try to take off in the ship without him, leading to the pair fighting and then being forced into their stasis pods when the meteors began hitting the cave. They remained in stasis for some ten thousand years, and due to the damage Salvage's pod sustained, when he was awoken he had no memory of events after the crash — as a result Blurr was able to claim the credit for saving the cavemen. He and Blurr met Optimus Prime and were invited to join Heatwave's team of Rescue Bots for training. After Salvage successfully helped out in a rescue by constructing an electromagnet, the truth came out about who rescued the cavemen. The New Recruits

Salvage proceeded well in his training, watching all the training videos Chase made and going on a mission to rescue a window washer. He helped Boulder and Graham construct ERVIS and install it in the Sigma. Rescue Bots Academy After Blurr stole the ship, Salvage had to rescue Cody from the hangar. A solar flare knocked out the island's power and left a satellite plummeting towards the island, but Salvage was able to rig up a communications device and reach Blurr, allowing the rest of the team to talk him through destroying the satellite. He and Blurr was subsequently made Rescue Bots and assigned elsewhere by Optimus. A New Hero

Blurr and Salvage joined some other recruits to contact the Rescue Bots for some tips, only to find the Bots on Griffin Rock were only able to sing. I Have Heard the Robots Singing Salvage and Blurr were on their way to Griffin Rock with High Tide when they had to stop and rescue Woodrow Burns. They were in sight of the island when it suddenly disappeared, leaving a number of surprised humans to rescue. Now and Then They were soon contacted by Chief Burns, and had to clear out the crater where Griffin Rock used to be, so the island could be relocated there after flying back from the Arctic where it had been teleported. Today and Forever

Three years on, the Rescue Bots received plans from Optimus for a new mainland base. Salvage constructed the mainland end of a GroundBridge, although the first test resulted in Heatwave and Chase being deposited in the Sahara. Bridge Building Salvage was called in to look at Griffin Rock's aging communications tower, and thought he'd have more luck building them an Argon Beam Coagulator. He managed to get the tower to work, though the top fell off. Part-Time Heroes

Salvage was putting the finishing touches on the Rescue Arena when the opening day for the Rescue Bot training center arrived. Rather than stick around for the party, he opted to head to Griffin Rock to check the scrapyard for possible tech, and ended up being stuck there when the GroundBridge malfunctioned. The More Things Change... He persevered in trying to fix the bridge, but didn't have any luck until the problem was fixed at the other end. The More Things Stay the Same

While the Rescue Team practiced in the Training Center, Blurr and Salvage covered for them in Griffin Rock though their unorthodox techniques resulted in the Burns family coming back early to help them out. Uninvited Guest Salvage alerted the rescue team when he detected strange readings off the coast of Griffin Rock. The readings turned out to be Energon, however when the Energon later disappeared, Salvage was unable to pick up any readings from it. Cody's 11

As part of the reassignments to protect the Scrubber Initiative, Salvage and Servo ended up as Heatwave's team looking after Griffin Rock, though Salvage's ideas of helping included turning the traffic lights purple. He served as transport for Chief and Kade when the Morocco virus attacked the laboratory. Upgrades To try and prevent Morocco from abducting Cody, Salvage and the rest of Heatwave's team formed a line of defense on the beach and fought a swarm of Scrubbers. He was later present when Optimus Prime reassigned the team to new posts. Transformations

  • Salvage (Rescan, 2015)
Part of the fifth wave of "Rescan" figures, Salvage transforms from robot to garbage truck in a single step, by opening/closing his bin/arms.
Unusual for a Rescue Bots toy, he has some articulation that isn't part of his transformation, with simple swivel shoulders.

Never skip leg day.
  • Salvage (Epic Figure, 2015)
A twelve-inch-tall, non-transforming action figure of Salvage with limited articulation and an opening chest-cockpit to place smaller figures inside.

To be released concurrently with High Tide exclusively on Amazon.com, this figure of Salvage is similar to his original, but upscaled to match the very first Rescue Bots toys in terms of size. He's also marginally more show-accurate, at least as far as his headlamps go. Unfortunately he was cancelled in December 2017.

  • Griffin Rock Construction Team (Flip Racer Multipack, 2017)
Part of the first wave of three-pack Flip Racers, Salvage transforms automatically from garbage truck to robot when the vehicle mode is lifted up and placed on its end. He comes in a pack with Boulder the Construction-Bot and Mortar as part of the "Griffin Rock Construction Team".

Released in 2018's assortment, this version of Salvage is a new mold which transforms into a cement mixer. It shares engineering and a transformation pattern with the ATV version of Bumblebee from the Rock Rescue Pack, and thus also Rescue Bots Academy Off-Road Rescue Hot Shot, possibly explaining the noticeably large gap between the arms and torso.
The character art on the card resembles his garbage truck appearance in the cartoon.
This figure was retooled with a new head into "Academy Rescue Team" Wedge.
