Shrapnel is a Decepticon from the EarthSpark continuity family.

Shrapnel used to fight as part of Megatron's army and, like many Decepticons, has continued fighting from the shadows since Megatron's switching of sides. He can create holographic clones of himself.

During the Great War, Shrapnel and Bombshell used their clones to destroy Big Ben. During the final battle of the war, Shrapnel was run over by Bumblebee. Warzone Sometime after this, Shrapnel was captured by Mandroid and placed under his control. When the Autobots attacked his base to try and rescue Twitch and Thrash, Mandroid deployed Shrapnel and Bombshell to distract Elita-1 while he made his escape. The pair didn't last long, leaving the one-armed Hardtop to face Elita-1 on his own. Shrapnel and the other Decepticons present were taken into custody, Secret Legacy, Part 2 and imprisoned in a secret holding facility in the underground G.H.O.S.T. base. Classified He was still incarcerated when Hashtag accidentally released all the cell locks. During the ensuing prison break, Shrapnel and Bombshell created drone duplicates to swarm the G.H.O.S.T agents. The battle allowed Bumblebee, Twitch, and Hashtag to escape the facility unnoticed. Shrapnel and the other Decepticons were sprung by Nightshade and Twitch when the pair turned up to free Bumblebee and Schloder, but were disinterested in helping them battle Mandroid. The Last Hope, Part 1

Sometime after Mandroid's defeat, Shrapnel rejoined the main Decepticon force under the command of Starscream. As Starscream's plan to conquer Earth neared completion Shrapnel watched as he gave a rallying speech. Later, Shrapnel engaged the attacking Autobot forces. Elita-1 kicked him in the face during the fight. After withdrawing to edge of town Shrapnel watched as Starscream raised a Titan from the ground. Soon after, Shrapnel and the other Decepticons were knocked off a cliff by a blow from the Titan. All the Decepticons followed Shockwave's attempt to flee, but were trapped by the Chaos Dome created by the Maltos. Witwicky, Part 2 After Prowl's ship crashed within the Chaos Dome, Shrapnel and the other Cons turned out to claim it, only to be driven off by the ship's defenses. Their second attempt was more successful, and following a protracted battle with Optimus and Prowl, the Decepticons boarded the ship before launching into space. No Soldier Left Behind
