Sparkshark is a Laser Beast from the Generation 1 continuity family.
...Ven ze patient voke up, his skeleton vas missink, and ze doctor vas never heard from again! Hahahahaha... anyvay, zat's how I lost my medical license. Heh.

Captain of the Laser Beast Maritime Strike Force, Sparkshark (スパークシャーク Supākushāku) relishes fighting on the ocean waves. A hot-blooded warrior, he finds immense satisfaction in defeating a tough foe, and often loses himself in the heat of battle. A fast swimmer, the saw-like teeth on his snout can cut through tough armor with ease, allowing him to sink enemy boats by himself. His MVP Weapon is the particularly cruel Black Spark Laser (ブラックスパークレーザー Burakku Supāku Rēzā), which with the proper charge, can tear living beings to shreds, leaving their weapons and armor untouched.

This battle lust often obscures a keen intellect and passion for medical research. Given his rather... intense personality, one can only imagine the exact nature of said research.

Beastformers

[edit]
  • Sparkshark (Laser Beast, 1988)
  • ID number: 78
  • Accessories: "Black Spark Laser" MVP Weapon (usually)
Part of the first assortment of Takara's Beastformers individually-boxed Laser Beasts, Sparkshark is an anthropomorphic sawshark in high-tech green armor. He has a transparent orb in his torso, revealing the elemental power of Fire, Water, or Wood when you look through it into a light source.
Nominally, he comes with the sawshark-themed "Black Spark Laser" blaster. However, there is also a chance he could come with the weapon from one of the other 11 Laser Beasts in his shipping case; matching the Beasts with their same-numbered weapons was part of the "role-playing game" attached to the line, encouraging kids to buy more of the toys.
This toy was actually released in Hasbro's Battle Beasts line as part of the "Shadow Warriors" series, but they saw extremely limited distribution, largely hitting clearance chains in the US, plus limited releases in parts of Europe. As such, it generally goes for a bit less than the later Laser Beasts that were only released in Japan, but not a lot less. There is a minor variant to the gun that has popped up in some EU and Canadian samples, though it's a bit harder to notice than most of the other gun variants: both versions have the "78" ID number stamped on the left-hand side on the grip under the main barrel, but the common version has the number much larger in the center of the part, while the variant is a fair bit smaller and pushed left toward the barrel front.

  • It is unknown what Sparkshark's Hasbro Battle Beasts name would have been.
