Talk:Army-building
My brain's a bit fried at the moment, but is it worth maybe popping in a list of the 'generic/army-building' toys and characters? (Scrapmetal, Scourge/Sweep, etc.) --Ratbat 21:30, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Movie Army-building
[edit]It's been mentioned that Dirt Boss from ROTF is a close ringer for the Scrapper Drones. Can we add him to the list? Riddlerj 16:11, 8 July 2009 (EDT)
Reflector
[edit]If we are going to mention the hordes of generic seekers shouldn't we mention the hordes of generic Reflector bots?Stevo 20:13, 20 April 2010 (EDT)
Things that may or may not be army builders
[edit]I was wondering about these two things but would Cyclonus and Minicons be armybuilders? (Cyclonus because of his ""Armada" and Minicons because of how many crowded shots use models from other Minicons as generics and the shots where no bodies are clearly visible but there are distinctl large numbers of them like towards the end of armada)--BlackStarscream 20:21, 15 July 2011 (EDT)
I would offer a similar question to both BW Dinobot's. Since Megatron did have a tendency to create a lot of clones of him, that just never transformed...
Cleaning up the page
[edit]It's been flagged for 2 years, how should we go about it?Poliwag06 (talk) 23:03, 29 November 2023 (EST)
Cleaning up the page (new!)
[edit]I discused this in the discord, but I think we should do a project to change this page into fully Toy Oriented page. Army Building is a collector focused concept, not a fiction based one, so I think we should go by toyline rather than by fiction.
I plan on making a sandbox page to work on it. Any objections? (talk) 1601, 18 October 2025
- While army building is a toy-based concept, I'd think continuity is more important as it informs what/why you're army building. For example, people who buying the new Elite Seeker/Ground Soldier pack aren't looking for "Studio Series" army builders, they're looking for "Devastation" army builders.
- And it would split up things that people would make more sense to be seen together on the page. For example, Rise of the Beasts Scorponok would end up split between a Rise of the Beasts toy section and a Studio Series section. Or if you're looking for army builders from Cyberverse, one might default to just the Cyberverse section and end up missing the Cyberverse Tarn army builder in the Legacy section.
- The main sticking point here imo is the whole Generations section, which I think was started because Generations isn't directly tied to a continuity like eponymous toylines are by default, even though most of the army builders in the line seem to be G1 based. IMO it would make more sense to move all those entries under appropriate continuities. I don't think we really need to have G1 Gnaw/Sharkticons mentioned multiple times for each toyline they might appear in. —BluJayWarrior (talk) 19:45, 18 October 2025 (EDT)
- Army-building is a fiction-based concept. There was nothing in the toyline that suggested there would be lots and lots of Scourge lookalikes but only one Misfire. --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 21:01, 18 October 2025 (EDT)
One?
[edit]Trackers currently have no Hasbro figure, just Blokees. Do we refrain from including them until they’re done in Studio Series?
