His alternate mode might well be modelled after one of the early series McLaren MP4s, maybe an MP4/1B - the legs seem to be intended to represent the massive rear wings the cars were running with in 1984.

IDW Micromasters

[edit]

Barricade is yet another Gorlam Prime Micromaster reimagined as a Cybertronian. How do we want to incorporate both versions? Mimi (talk) 12:38, 26 June 2014 (EDT)

I'd be tempted to suggest putting the WFC-design Barricade at a new article. He isn't really a version of Micromaster Barricade in anything but name... Jalaguy (talk) 13:29, 26 June 2014 (EDT)
Haven't read Punishment but yeah, if the Barricade there is not based on the Micromaster toy, then we've basically just got this argument again. "All the good names are taken", as Roberts says.
Might have to be one of those weird Kre-O disambiguations like [[Starscream (Armada Kre-O)]], though, since he's shouldn't be on either the Barricade (WFC) or Barricade (G1) pages. Barricade (IDW WFC)? Or maybe just Barricade (Punishment)? --Xaaron (talk) 13:55, 26 June 2014 (EDT)
What about just Barricade (IDW), a la Goldbug and Buster? --Sockie (talk) 14:01, 26 June 2014 (EDT)
He's not the only Barricade in IDW, though -- the Micromaster Barricade appeared in Spotlight: Hardhead. --Xaaron (talk) 14:57, 26 June 2014 (EDT)
IDW seems to be increasingly utilizing Micromasters as full-sized Transformer characters in their continuity. Barricade certainly isn't the first, and I doubt he'll be the last (he's just the first who doesn't have a Japanese version to be shunted into the Gorlam Prime spot). One solution would be to just no longer consider the Gorlam Prime Micromasters as being the same as the Transformers Micromasters and just create one page for all of them, but that seems like a bit of a nuclear option. Either way, I think this is an issue that goes beyond just Barricade and needs to be dealt with globally, rather than locally for each character. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 16:24, 26 June 2014 (EDT)
The circumstances for each case ARE different, though:
  • Fixit was a non-issue, because he didn't appear in Spotlight: Hardhead.
  • Motorhead was unrecognizable as the Micromaster, and just assigned to Motorhead (IDW).
  • Dropshot was represented by a toy body-type from the same continuity family, but different franchise, so Dropshot (Universe) got split from (G1).
  • Barricade, however, was represented by a body-type from a different continuity family and franchise, so he can't just be put on Barricade (WFC).
  • Tailwind was a testament to the Wiki's value: prior to MTMTE #12, his Fiction section was missing his appearance in Spotlight: Hardhead.
Whether to split the pages, how to split the pages, what disambiguations to use...these change from case to case. Short of ignoring the Gorlam Prime Micromasters altogether somehow, each IDW Micromaster-turned-Bulk needs to addressed individually for those reasons. --Xaaron (talk) 16:50, 26 June 2014 (EDT)4

Seperate

[edit]

Since IDW Full-sized Barricade is based on Movie Barricade and looks nothing like Micromaster Barricade, I say seperate.--Primestar3 (talk) 11:22, 25 October 2015 (EDT)

No. --ItsWalky (talk) 11:29, 25 October 2015 (EDT)
I mean, beyond the pointlessness of splitting the page like that, IDW Barricade is based on WFC Barricade (not Movie Barricade), who IS based on Micromaster Barricade! --ItsWalky (talk) 11:31, 25 October 2015 (EDT)
ok.--Primestar3 (talk) 14:06, 25 October 2015 (EDT)
A few years late on this, i support separating the pages, but i want to point out that in no way is WFC Barricade based on G1 Micromaster Barricade, at all. WFC Barricade has shoulder wheels, a gunmetal grey-black color scheme, and kibble reminiscent of door wings, all three of those coming from the 2007 movie Barricade. WFC Barricade and Micromaster Barricade look absolutely nothing alike. The only vague similarity between the two in terms of appearance and characterization is that they're both Decepticons who turn into cars (Not even similar cars either, G1 Barricade turns into a dragster, WFC Barricade into a Cybertronian Police Cruiser). In addition, the IDW Barricade is used in a context referencing 2007 Movie Barricade, once again having nothing to do with the original G1 Barricade. Hollywood SN (talk) 03:49, 18 June 2017 (EDT)
WFC Barricade absolutely has G1 Barricade's head. -LV (talk) 04:52, 18 June 2017 (EDT)
Only the general shape and detailings of helmet, but the face is still different, with individual eyes instead of a visor. Hollywood SN (talk) 14:31, 18 June 2017 (EDT)

TLK toy

[edit]

That is absolutely not a match for his Earth Wars design. The virtual version looks like Universe 2.0 Prowl with vaguely movie shoulders and a Micromaster head. Is there any justification to keep it on this page beyond "they're both the same colours"? Sky Shadow (talk) 12:34, 29 June 2017 (EDT)

Earth Wars Barricade

[edit]

The Earth Wars/Evergreen Barricade has no connection to the G1 Micromaster, being a whole-cloth import of the movie character. I know there's the connective tissue of IDW/WFC Barricade, but, like... I don't think that's enough? At the end of the day, the Earth Wars character and the Micromaster share nothing but a name and a faction. Thoughts? --Riptide (talk) 19:07, 17 August 2018 (EDT)

I agree, there’s not enough connecting him to the Micromaster Barricade imo. Micromaster Barricade most likely didn’t figure into the creation of the Earth Wars character at all. They share a name by coincidence, not because they have anything to do with each other; there’s no reason to keep cop car guy here. -Foffy (talk) 19:26, 17 August 2018 (EDT)
If you split, where does the WFC-style IDW Barricade go? BattleBlade (talk) 20:59, 17 August 2018 (EDT)

Turncoats

[edit]

Sorry if anybody already discussed this somewhere else. The Zone story pages describes Barricade and other Micromasters as having once being Autobots before defecting to the Decepticons. So shouldn't they all be under our Turncoats category?--Fritz (talk) 13:56, 6 July 2020 (EDT)
