"Continuity error"
[edit]I'm removing this, because it's apparent that Japanese and the timeline have a much better handle on continuity than we do. In "Emissary of the Fourth Planet", NAVI-chan apparently has the line 「数万年前、惑星ガイアに住んでいた古代ガイア人の都市ですって」, which translates to something like "Tens of thousands of years ago, the ancient Gaeans lived in cities on planet Gaea." [1] The only reason anybody insists on Lio Convoy and Optimus Primal being contemporaries is because of the catalog which Western fans seem to overstate the importance of because it was one of the few translated BWII media available to us. —Interrobang 02:06, 9 September 2011 (EDT)
- I don't have the whole quote, but 「数万年前、惑星ガイアに住んでいた古代ガイア人の都市ですって」 should be translated into "(You say/mean) Tens of thousands years ago, it is the city inhabited by ancient Gaean on the planet Gaea?". The question mark is for "ですって", which seem to be auxiliary words for an interrogative sentence. --TX55TALK 02:36, 9 September 2011 (EDT)
- Ah, thanks for the more refined translation. My point still stands in that BWII takes place "ten of thousands of years" after the last appearance of humans in Japanese G1 continuity (at the earliest). It instinctively feels far beyond when BW was said to take place (300 years after the Great War). —Interrobang 16:23, 9 September 2011 (EDT)
