I don't think "Neanderthal" is the right word - "Code of Hero" heavily implies (if not states outright) that these guys are the ancestors of the human race, and the Neanderthals were most likely wiped out and eaten by the human race. I'd be happier with "Proto-human leader" or something similar, unless there's a source that specifically identifies him as a Neanderthal. --Emvee 05:12, 24 January 2010 (EST)

I was going by the title Interrobang used on the links he added on the Chak and Una articles a while back, since I assumed he must have gotten the name from somewhere. They seemed to be called "anthropoids" most often on the show, so possibly "Anthropoid leader"? --abates 05:46, 24 January 2010 (EST)

Looking a bit more closely at this, Neanderthal mitochondrial DNA was first "amplified" to a testable quantity in 1997 and Code of Hero came out in 1998. It most probably wasn't common knowledge that Neanderthals weren't the ancestors of modern humans when this episode was written, as it was only through comparison of human and Neanderthal mDNA that it was discovered. So although the name isn't scientifically accurate, it should stand if it's sourced from the script. Possibly with a note. --Emvee 06:23, 24 January 2010 (EST)

A theory today is that Neanderthals were absorbed back into the AMH species. So maybe this specific group gets absorbed back into the population of AMHs and that sparks a specific genetic line (Witwicky perhaps?). This would explain why a specific group of Neanderthals is more important than others (i'm rather certain some protohumans/neanderthals have been killed as a result of the Beast Wars up to this point).
