I'd like to say, I dont' find footnotes to be a very friendly way of linking to stories. You have to click on them, which take you tot he footnote, whichtthen takes you to the story. If you're doing liek I often do, and openign in new tab, when you finally go back to the tab, you're presented witht eh Footnotes section. "Which # did I click on to get here agaain? Uh..."

I think we discussed the use of footnotes as storylinks forever ago and siscarded it for just that reason. (Plus, with a character liek Optimus Prime, you could have hundreds such footnotes.) I've used footnotes elsewhere on the wiki to properly document obscure sources. -Derik 00:48, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

IDW Bluestreak and Silverstreak - different characters?

[edit]

Wait, they're two different characters now? Walky is going by what Andy Schmidt said... somewhere. So we're now going by the word of an editor whom we have previously made fun of for his problems with remembering events and continuity? --FFN 10:00, 16 May 2010 (EDT)

The confusion has made it onto the printed page, unfortunately. Diaclone-colored Bluestreak appeared occasionally pre-AHM. Sunbow-colored Silverstreak has appeared in the ongoing post-AHM. But a Diaclone-colored "Streak", unnamed, appeared in The Transformers: Bumblebee at several times, after Silverstreak left with Rodimus's team. And, just to make things more interesting, the Diaclone-colored model appeared in The Transformers: Ironhide this week, called Silverstreak. --Xaaron 10:42, 16 May 2010 (EDT)
I found this on the forum. http://forum.idwpublishing.com/viewtopic.php?t=3324&start=180&sid=c01e01f8e99247b138deb380551c3431. If they're separate characters, we therefore need to have a Silverstreak (IDW) section and split off Bluestreak's idw section into his section and Silverstreak's. If you think that Andy's word is enough. User: Eire 16 May 2010 (UTC)
But didn't everybody look different in the Bumblebee comic? --Crockalley 12:23, 16 May 2010 (EDT)
Yes, they did, but fact remains the silver Bluestreak left with Rodimus' team, therefore he shouldn't be present in the Bumblebee comic at all. Isn't there any way to fanwank this as the blue one being a miscolored Smokescreen? --Detour 12:30, 16 May 2010 (EDT)
But look at IDW Goldbug, he's a separate character from Bumblebee. --97.94.161.37 16:44, 17 July 2011 (EDT)

This isn't something IDW made up, strictly. Do you guys remember Alternators Camshaft? Stolen samples put "BLUESTREAK" on his license plate, and Aaron Archer (or Eric?) said that, in reference to this, they thought it'd be fun to make them different guys. Mind, that causes the wiki SO many headaches. Are all Silverstreaks Silverstreak, or are some of them Bluestreak? Do they share the same tech spec? --ItsWalky 13:12, 16 May 2010 (EDT)

Main image

[edit]

Horrible. I would really like a cleaned-up version of the "Anime Streak"/Hasbro Collector's Edition Bluestreak boxart as the main image here, if we can get one. Paging Derik... -LV 01:32, 22 June 2013 (EDT)

Think Henkei Bluestreak's packaging art would suffice? --Lonegamer78 05:37, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
If I thought that would fly, I would have uploaded TF Legends "Silverstreak" art instead - it's much better and in the right colours, but it's based on his 2008 toy, not his 1984 character model. And the going rule is apparently that it needs to be the character's first body in fiction. [Which ruled Blue Bluestreak out!] - SanityOrMadness 07:15, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
I doubt the policy was intended to disallow a character's original bio art. Bios are fiction. - Starfield 16:41, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
Even if I bought that (which I don't - "fiction" in this context should be about more than a single static image unless that is literally all there is), it isn't representative. Bluestreak/Silverstreak is a silver/red (and usually off-black, although that comes and goes) bot, not a blue & white one. There is even a note on the page pointing out that Blue Bluestreak is an urban myth.
If someone finds a G1 animation model in colour or the reissue box art that was the same linework in the right colours, or says "okay" to uploading the TF Legends art, or something similarly usable and in the right colours, I wouldn't complain.... - SanityOrMadness 16:50, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
How does his TF Legends artwork look like? (No, I haven't been playing Legends - I have other side projects.) --Lonegamer78 17:44, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
(I've not been playing it either, but Derik made all the extant art available without the "card" outlines a few weeks back.) - SanityOrMadness 18:03, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
I'd say that could work. --Lonegamer78 18:27, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
I'm against it for being based off his Universe toy. We generally try to find art based on the original toy. --ItsWalky 21:09, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
I think that would work fine as a place holder image until someone could find a really good shot of his original design. What is up now is just AWFUL. It is a terrible piece of art. I know it's not ideal but I'd put something better up then worry about finding something perfect.ZacWilliam 22:54, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
The myth is that there was a blue-sided Bluestreak toy. Blue-sided Bluestreak is not a myth... it is canon (in the box art/tech spec continuity). If you want to find something more representative, OK, but his bio art shouldn't be off limits or minor-edit revert worthy. It is better than the current image. - Starfield 19:05, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
It's also the body colors he used for the first several years in IDW continuity. --Xaaron 23:01, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
I vote for temporarily restoring the boxart but planning to replace it. The boxart, represented by an actual toy or Marvel/Sunbow appearance or not, was a pretty heavily-used image in licensed merchandise (it got a 3D puzzle, even) and, as mentioned, has at least made some semi-recent fictional appearances. The Legends art isn't of the appropriate design, and the MTMTE art is awful. -LV 02:02, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
Seconded. --M Sipher 02:48, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
I agree that the box art is preferable to the wrong bodied art. --ItsWalky 05:32, 24 June 2013 (EDT)

3D Puzzle

[edit]
Side question: Can we use that picture? Do you have any further information on this puzzle, as it isn't listed here. --Khajidha 08:33, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
It's some guy's picture from Tumblr. I didn't really examine it after Google Imaging it. I have that thing still sealed, but I'm pretty sure it's at my parents' place. ON a technical level it's pretty much the same as the Ultra Magnus and Starscream puzzles we do have entries on. -LV 09:01, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
Wrote it up based on the picture and the SS & UM listings. Can you take a picture of yours at some point? I'd rather not just steal someone else's. Also, can you take a look at the back of the box to see if there is anything else there? The UM listing gives a title for his "adventure", but I can't see anything like that on the SS or BS pictures. --Khajidha 10:26, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
Well, it's a four-hour drive, but I should be up there in late July, so I'll try to remember. I suspect, given Bluestreak and Starscream were almost certainly earlier releases, they may not match up in all details with the way Magnus was handled. -LV 10:58, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
Yeah, I'm not trying to rush you. --Khajidha 11:11, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
Damn, if I'd seen this conversation, I would have taken photos of mine while I was at my parents' house over the weekend. -hx 08:53, 25 June 2013 (EDT)
We should set up a playdate for our parents and their 3D Bluestreak puzzles. -LV 09:25, 25 June 2013 (EDT)
