Definitely worth noting. It seems to be intentional, otherwise the packaging would be covered in stickers with Japanese writing. I think this should be mentioned. There was a discussion over on the Allspark about the darker variant being a cantidate for Gold Plastic Syndrome. Most of the people who replied seemed uncertain whether or not Hasbro had corrected that problem, and no longer used a gold plastic that degraded with age.
