Duplicator? I just met 'er!

[edit]

"Come to think of it, once the matter duplicator was fixed, why didn't the Autobots use it for creating an unlimited source of energy?"
Does the duplicator require energy to run? JW 15:55, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't say. The matter duplicator is just said to have "never worked". No mention is made of HOW it worked. Or why it didn't work until now. It's not even given a "Checkov's Gun" setup... it is ONLY ever discussed in reference to ONLY creating more Corrostop for this immediate crisis. It is one of the most embarrassingly cheap deus-ex-machina solutions in TF history. --M Sipher 16:19, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
For that matter, how is a MATTER duplicator going to make ENERGY?? -- Repowers 16:22, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Easy. Just duplicate an energy source. Fuel is made out of matter after all. --FortMax 16:50, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
As noted above, one presumes the device requires energy to operate. Energy = mass squared times a constant and all that, meaning it takes a buttload of energy to make a small amount of matter. Not that G1 is noted for its great adherence to physics, but since we're in the "when you think about it" mode, this concern is pretty easily discounted. -- Repowers 17:00, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
I never said it would be a good idea to do so. Besides, this is the same cartoon where antimatter can be held in a glass jar and an overload generator that while on Earth is capeable of destroying the planet but in space is mearly capeable of knocking Starscream out of the the sky. --FortMax 17:16, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Taking this conversation into consideration, I think we should add a "Cartoon Science" category to the episode template and make these kinds of observations where such things (Perceptor's matter duplicator, Perceptor's shrinking machine...oh heck, anything that Perceptor or Wheeljack cook up) can be noted for posterity.--Suzyprime 03:40, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
The problem is that any Transformers show starts with ridiculous cartoon science. Transforming alien robots (some of which can grow and shrink) is an incredibly silly idea to start with. JW 12:25, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Ah, true. And since we're all fans, we're highly skilled in suspension of disbelief. Just an idea...--Suzyprime 13:10, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Errors?

[edit]

"When Perceptor was voluntarily released by Megatron, the entire army of the Autobots(or as good as) joined in for picking up their fellow scientist. So many bots are unnecessarily needed for such a simple mission. Wow. I'm impressed."

I don't know if that's really an error. Didn't the Autobots think it was a trap and maybe the Decepticons were lying in wait?

Rumble's Voice

[edit]

Is it worth mentioning that Rumble sounds... off... at the beginning of the episode? It's obviously Welker still performing, but his usual dialect is off. He almost sounds like a lower-pitched Wheelie.

Hello there. The link listed in the reference section of this page has long since gone the way of many internet sources, and become unavailable. Fortunately, there is one capture available of the web-site available on the Internet Archive. I would replace the offending link with the archived version myself, though as I am uncertain of how one would go about updating the reflist, I will simply put the link here.
