Talk:Downshift (Energon)
So... I have problems with the appellation of 'Animated continuity' here, which presents the Cybertron comics as the sequel to the Energon cartoon. -Derik 21:45, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- Looking at it, the Cybertron comic is actually a different section. It's just the order that they're in makes it look like they're both under "Animated." - Dark T Zeratul 22:45, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- The Energon cartoon and fan club comic are both listed as subsections under "animated continuity", just as Derik says. Somebody that pays more attention than I to inter-franchise continuity for UT should change or justify that. --Steve-o 06:48, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- It's tough. According to Forest Lee, the club comic (and the Cybertron animated series itself) has been said to occur in both the DW comics continuity and the animated continuity. That's supported by references to both the cartoon and the comic (such as the Armada cartoon's fight against Unicron and its Unicron-spawned Mini-Con history and the Mini-Con Over-Run thread about him uploading himself into the planet). It's kinda awkward when you try to force it into our Fiction hierarchies, since technically any Cybertron cartoon and comic information would have to be put in, well, both the DW and animated continuity sections. I've just been putting the Cyb cartoon/comic in the Animated section and ignoring the issue, basically. --ItsWalky 06:54, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

- Wait, are you saying that the Energon cartoon ALSO happened in the Cyb comic's backstory? But-- that's nonsensical! Reality-next-door where some of the reprecussions and events are felt, fine... -Derik 09:28, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- Is maybe the idea supposed to be that the Unicron Singularity's reality warping merged the UT animated and comic universes, or somethin'? --KilMichaelMcC 11:47, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't quite get why it's nonsensical for the Energon cartoon to have happened in the Cybertron's comic's timeline. The Cybertron comic is concurrent Cybertron cartoon, which is part of the timeline of the Armada and Energon cartoons. It's only the presence of the Over-Run thing that makes it messy, but surely we can all just blame that on the Unicron Singularity and stick our fingers in our ears and go lalalalalala until it all goes away? - Chris McFeely 14:00, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- Pretty much what I do. The way my brain handles it, some events from the Energon comic happened offscreen during the Energon cartoon. But, yeah, I also don't understand why the Energon cartoon can't happen in the same universe as the Cybertron comic. The Cybertron comic happens between (and during!) the episodes of the Cybertron cartoon... which happens after the Energon cartoon. What's to throw a hissy about? --ItsWalky 16:56, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Uh...Can his guns (Cybertron Downshift) have mini cons attach to them? I heard that somewhere.
Yes

YAY! =D
Vehicle mode
[edit]Could Downshift's Energon vehicle mode be a modified Honda Prelude? --Detour 09:06, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
As for his Cybertron vehicle mode; I recall someone did a LENGTHY analysis of his vehicle influences over on the Allspark. However, it'd more than double the length of this article.
If I can find it again (I fear it may have been purged), is there any way to archive it here, without bloating the page? A pop-up or a default-to-collapsed section, like some of the 'Related articles' link-masses on Wikipedia? Nutjob RT 17:48, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Images
[edit]Can somebody do a scan of his card art or something? That mistransformed pic of his robot mode has run its course as a 'joke', and isn't even the body he used in his main fictional appearance. --FFN 13:39, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- I agree there. You're good at editing images, think you can get something decent out of his baseball card tech spec? [1] --Detour 16:06, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Downshift vs. Wheeljack
[edit]I've generally assumed that this character was meant to be named Wheeljack given the fact that, well, he's the spitting image, but because they had already used that name for a character in Armada, they named him Downshift to avoid confusion. Can anybody verify this? I think it's noteworthy. 99.71.165.67 04:48, 29 January 2011 (EST)
