Talk:For safety reasons

I think this does indeed have way too much snark. In fact, I would say that it shouldn't have any snark. Articles like this one could be valuable to have to point people to when the subject comes up, and, in my opinion, would therefore be far better off if made completely straight forward and joke-free. --KilMichaelMcC 00:02, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Hrm, i enjoy a little snark. Maybe jsut in the intro, and gets serious in the sub-sections? -Derik 00:13, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm not going to say that snark is bad, but yes, this is definitely over the top. A bit of editing all around is in order. --Suki Brits 01:45, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

The people at TFW2005 seem to loathe this wiki, particularly this article:

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=117643

Maybe it should get a snark-reduction to apease the masses? --DrSpengler 01:14, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

If someone wants to edit it down to be less snarky, be my fucking guest, but seriously, if you don;t like it, fucking cowboy up and do the damn thing, instead of just bitching like a goddamn crybaby. (Also, I hate it when people claim it's Walky's wiki or that he runs it or owns it or whatever. I WANT CREDIT FOR MY UNFUNNY CAPTIONS, GODDAMNIT.) -hx 03:29, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Can I get rid of that image? I mean, seriously... what the hell? Is anyone going to miss it? --Suki Brits 05:18, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Go for it. I'm sure a little effort can be made to find something better. --M Sipher 05:22, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
I'd just replace it with a pic of G1 Megatron's gun mode, with the caption "No, you CAN'T have one anymore." THat's pretty much what I was gonna do, but couldn't be assed to last night.

Also, HOLY SHIT that page about the choking missile death! Did you read the excerpt from the lawsuit? Part of the case was that the toy was SHAPED LIKE A PENIS, SO CHILDREN WANTED TO PUT IT IN THEIR MOUTHS. Apparently Mattel was trying to eliminate gay children before they were old enough to (not) breed. -hx 15:43, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

You know, I think this page could probably use some more bullet-pointed paragraphs on individual tests/standards... but I'm too tired to go about majorly reorganizing a page right now. It just strikes me (ha!) that bullet-pointing specific big recurring tests/examples would make things a little... easier on the reading? I dunno. --M Sipher 06:12, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Drop test

[edit]

A different explanation for the drop test was given by Hasbro at BotCon 200...whatever. It involves dropping it *in complete packaging*, and seeing how damaged the result is. It's not really a safety thing, I don't think. --ItsWalky 16:43, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Bopper Missiles

[edit]

Drat. I can find a number of decentish photos of these, but the ones that are the clearest are watermarked to hell and back. I did find this which shows how ridiculous looking they are, but it's a packaging shot so I'm not sure.--Rosicrucian 22:48, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Stubbimus Prime?

[edit]

Oh, I so badly want to see this caption changed to, "Circumcised for your own safety" or something. But I just got back from being ragged at today. Oh, PLEASE. It's SO much better. Harley Quinn hyenaholic 11:51, 21 March 2009 (EDT)

Articulation

[edit]

Wasn't there an interview translated by TFW2005 a few months back, where one of the Japanese designers who actually engineer most of the Transformers toys said that they actually added articulation in part because of a For Safety Reasons test whereby if the legs of a toy were pulled apart with a certain amount of force, they must not snap? (for the same reason, many toys prior to this had fused legs). I remember reading it, but I can't find the link... - SanityOrMadness 13:35, 30 August 2009 (EDT)

It was this one: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/223379-takaratomy-staff-interview-generations-2009-vol-1-translation.html It's interesting how something like artuculation not only makes it safer, but also make the toy better at the same time. Would it be to much to put it on the page also?--Sunjumper 13:36, 23 September 2009 (EDT)

Do we have anything on materials yet?

[edit]

And does it belong here?

'Cuz currently a German group deems legal regulations for toxic substances far too lax: Link, in English--Nevermore 17:44, 8 December 2009 (EST)

Could that article be any more vague? --FortMax 17:51, 8 December 2009 (EST)

There are more precise articles in German. This was the best thing I could find in English.--Nevermore 18:26, 8 December 2009 (EST)

Sparking is back!

[edit]

Dino Sparkers have sparking that the article claims is gone. Edit to reflect this?
