Talk:Gang-molding

I wonder if it would be workable to start describing who's gang-molded with whom on everyone's pages. "Moonrock is gang-molded with the rest of the Astro Squad. His red vehicle mode matches Missile Master's vehicle mode (obviously) and Phaser and Heave's torsos, his white chest matches Barrage's and the vehicle mode shared by Phaser and Blast Master, and all six members have matching light blue thighs." --Andrusi 10:53, 17 March 2011 (EDT)

It seems very straightforward, and obviously most guys wouldn't have lists as long as the MM Combiners', but...there's some weird stuff that ends up on Speculation Street, like how Takara's Buzz Saw strangely changes the same colors (purple to dark purple, green to grey) as their Blackarachnia - it seems like this MUST be gang-molding, but why? And where's the Tarantulas to go with Fox Kids Waspinator? Or the MW Basics, who share a bunch of plastic colors in the same patterns (Hubcap is yellow like Skywarp's head, Skywarp is white like Mirage's head AND Hoist is black like Thundercracker's head, Thundercracker is green like Prowl's head) but whose RID and RM releases don't follow along. -LV 11:10, 17 March 2011 (EDT)
It seems like a lot of that could be explained by gated molds. Or, there's a big pile of Tarantulas parts in a landfill somewhere. This might be a really boring question to corner someone with at BotCon (specifically - if a non-gated mold is used, what happens to the leftover parts?) -hx 12:26, 17 March 2011 (EDT)
Or it could be the difference between batches of plastic used. Maybe Takara's deco artists just didn't like that color and changed the specifications for the plastic. If we know that something is gang molded, we should say so. If we simply assume we should find out. --Khajidha 12:38, 17 March 2011 (EDT)

It might just be me, but the example image caption seems a bit hard to read. Could it be rewritten a bit?Noilaedi (talk) 13:50, 14 May 2022 (EDT)
