Talk:Great Convoy
No evidence the Maximal elders were killed.
Great Convoy was chairing a Maximus-class Flagship (colored liek Fort Max, but it had a different animation model, so it's hard to say) and definately was, but the others are hard to tell.-Derik 18:39, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
You're probably right. It's been a little while since I watched those episodes and mighta misremebered all the Maximal Elders being present. I'll fix that part. --DrSpengler 19:27, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Not just a single individual?
[edit]Now that we finally have Beast Wars Neo in fully subtitled form, there is something spoken in the final episode that leads me to question if our current position of considering "Great Convoy" to refer to the specific individual who presides over the Convoy Council is actually correct. In said episode, after Unicron is defeated and everyone sees that Vector Sigma is okay, she speaks a request to both Lio Convoy and Big Convoy, which is subtitled like so: "Big Convoy... Lio Convoy... I'd like both of you to remain on Planet Seibertron and work as Great Convoys." Notice the plural form of the name. This is not a mistranslation since both Lio Convoy and Big Convoy each respond to this request, with Lio Convoy accepting the offer and Big Convoy respectfully declining. The fact that Vector Sigma asks for both of them to become Great Convoys leads me to wonder if we're actually wrong about "Great Convoy" being the name of the central figure of the Convoy Council, and if it may actually instead be simply a title bestowed to every member of the Council.
What's more, in examining all three episode appearances of "Great Convoy" mentioned on this article, I noticed a few other things. First off, the one who appears in Episode 21 has a different head design from the Great Convoy who appears in both Episode 1 and Episode 33. His voice is also different, being significantly deeper than any of the council members' voices heard in either Episodes 1 or 33. Though, he is not credited at the end of the episode, and he is only referred to in the episode as "Honbu" ("HQ") by Big Convoy. Although, his deep voice is pretty similar to that of the fake "God of the Cybertrons" seen in Episode 2 (who did have the same head design as the Great Convoy from 1 and 33, btw), so the one from Episode 21 may have been voiced by Kazuki Yao (whom our page for said fake god currently lists as his voice actor). What's more, none of the council Convoys seen in Episode 1 are credited either, but while the central one seen in Episode 1 does share his animation model with the Great Convoy seen in Episode 33, the two of them have very different voices from each other as well. Granted, in this case, the difference in voices is a weaker argument for these two being different individuals, so it's probably safe to say that the two identical-looking ones from Episodes 1 and 33 are the same person, just with different voice actors between his two appearances. But, the one from Episode 21 is definitely a different guy with his own super deep voice and a unique head design.
Moreover, it is only in Episode 33 that the main Convoy of the Council is referred to as "Great Convoy" in both the episode and in its end credits. And while both he himself and the credits refer to him as ;"Great Convoy", and while the credits also name another Convoy seen aboard his ship as just "Pilot", when Vector Sigma speaks to him, she uses the plural marker of "Great Convoy-tachi". While this was subtitled as "Great Convoy and the others", it could also be translated as "Great Convoy's group" or even "the Great Convoys". Going by the latter, it would mean that Vector Sigma was speaking to more than just one Great Convoy, as in, all present members of the Convoy Council. After all, an interior shot of the Fort Max-esque battleship shows that there are at least two more Convoys with the him, and both seem to have big fancy gold shoulder pads similar to their named compatriot. Combined with the aforementioned request made in the final episode for both Big Convoy and Lio Convoy to each become a Great Convoy, it would make sense for "Great Convoy" to be the title held by all of the Convoy Council's members rather than just one individual's name, and that Vector Sigma was actually speaking to all of them when she said "Great Convoy-tachi" in Episode 33.
Of course, it would be best if we could find a better source with more information to go on since the show itself was pretty vague on the Convoy Council in general. Do we know if the manga ever said anything on the matter? Or if there was a description of the Council given in an old issue of TV Magazine or something? --Sabrblade (talk) 23:45, 9 May 2020 (EDT)
