Talk:Inferno (BW)
Should we bother with foreign names if they're the same as the English and spelled the same way? I'd drop the French name (keeping the Spanish), but I can be convinced otherwise, if there's some technicality I'm overlooking. --ItsWalky 19:45, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- That's what I've been doing. I mean, we don't list "Japanese name:" for all the characters who didn't get a name-change in Japan. --M Sipher 20:28, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
TM Scavenger
[edit]What are we going to do with regards to Transmetal Scavenger? All signs point to Scavenger actually being Inferno: the Beast Wars Metals toy is called "Inferno" and Scavenger's specs certinly act like Scavenger is a pre-existing character. Also, aside from the Ultra Transmetals, all of the Transmetal characters (including McDonalds) had pre-transmetal toys, and were featured in the show.
I've heard the reason Hasbro/Kenner changed the name to Scavenger was because of the Inferno colonies warming store shelves. --FortMax 20:11, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- That's a footnote for his Toys section (a secton frequently unused, as people just stick a TFU.info link in the External links.)
- I think the theory just as you put forth (inferno warming shelves) ie pretty well documented by this point, and no one seems to disagree that's probably the reason. -Derik 20:25, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Scavenger's a separate dude. IDW BW comic. The whole "originally designed to be" thing can and should be noted, and the "Metals Inferno" toy should definitely be part of this entry... but the US version ain't Inferno. --M Sipher 20:28, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- The IDW BW comic sucked so bad. -LV 20:51, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yes. Yes, it did. --M Sipher 20:54, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- But Claw Jaw was awesome in it! -Derik 21:04, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
I recall when I bought TM Scavenger it rang up Inferno on the receipt.
Personality
[edit]I always figured that Inferno's beast mode overrode his personality because hotswapped Inferno's personality chip in mid-programming. 216.151.95.158 16:08, 2 November 2007 (UTC)(Jameel)
Unreleased Toy?
[edit]Some time ago, I recall seeing photos of Botcon 2006 Waspinator being shown with a red redeco of RID Towline, intended to represent Inferno's pre-beast wars form. Yet now, I can find no evidence of such photos. Does anyone else recall seeing such photos? Megatronacepticon 05:04, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- You might be thinking of this. --ItsWalky 05:12, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Cheers, but that wasn't it. Megatronacepticon 08:01, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Trivia
[edit]The bit about the general life a drone ant is interesting, but irrelevant to Inferno. Inferno's beast form is not a drone; it's a worker. Nevermind the anatomical differences (drones typically have wings), but Inferno's personality doesn't match that of a drone either. Inferno identifies himself as a "soldier and defender of the colony," which matches the duties of a female worker ant, which are sterile, and thus cannot mate.--General Cicadacon 13:15, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Vehicon bio
[edit]I question the canon-icity of this item. Was the bio officially approved by Hasbro? --M Sipher 20:05, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- Eh. I assumed that since it was a product of BotCon, it was official. I think the fact that those "official customs" exist should still be noted somewhere (if only for the fact that they're totally obscure) if we decide to delete this page.
- Maybe they're in the same limbo as Nightracer? Interrobang 20:27, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- If the bio was never approved, that should be noted. Otherwise, the page is okay. --ItsWalky 20:35, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Let's all agree that Inferno has identity issues, alright?- Kyogreswimming
Trivia error
[edit]"Like Waspinator, Inferno's beast mode is female, as the only male ants are the kings, which Inferno, due to his lack of wings, clearly is not. So, like Waspinator (and to some extent Tigatron), he has the distinction of being a guy in a girl's body. " This is utterly fabricated, male ants do not have wings, male ants never even leave the hive. They only mate with queens. There's no such thing as "kings" with fire ants either. Inferno is indeed "female", but in behavior, it has nothing to do with the lack of wings.--86.87.28.191 11:15, 18 June 2009 (EDT)
- They have wings, just like queens, they leave the hive, fly off together with the young queens find each other, mate, land, loose their wings and start a new hive, and die, being a male ant and Wasp sucks. Dead Metal 11:18, 18 June 2009 (EDT)
- This is the first I've ever heard that ants have "kings." They have drones! Google search for "Ant king" turns up nothing but cartoon titles. --ItsWalky 11:22, 18 June 2009 (EDT)
- Excactly, what was the person who added that trivia smoking?--86.87.28.191 16:41, 21 June 2009 (EDT)
- I think certain species of termites have kings, however... Termites aren't ants Mecheon 21:45, 3 July 2009 (EDT)

Split?
[edit]I didn't add the tag, but I see Eire put it up about a month and half ago. And so far, there's been no discussion. Since both non-Predacon Infernoes are from alternate dimensions, it seems like we should split them off the same way we have Galvatron II. I'd say they're the exact same case: A character that starts off identical to the standard character but then their timeline changes and thus changes them. Unless of course, Galvatron II was split off for length and not content, in which case my argument holds no water. --Tigerpaw28 00:29, 19 September 2009 (EDT)
- It was decided a while before the crash that alternate Universe dudes were to be merged into their respective articles. Galvatron II only gets his own page because he got a toy that made him an unique iteration of the character. —Interrobang 14:16, 19 September 2009 (EDT)
- Right-- the alternate would be to have BM Tankorr in Rhinox's article, but not Universe Tankor... who is Rhinox.
- (This gets a tad complicated in multiverse-spanning adventures when characters meet themselves... but we've mostly avoided those problems thus far.) -Derik 15:31, 19 September 2009 (EDT)
