Talk:Jipe (Malignus)

As noted, I'm debating if we should have an "Optimus/Malignus" category or even seperate categories for each. I know the numbers aren't there (since there's only three guys in each), but these are arguably new factions, and that, I would think, would justify a category. --M Sipher 13:25, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

If you count the different colour schemes, there's six in each faction. Also: I don't know the exact model, but this mold was based off a Japanese-built offroad vehicle.

I'm not sure if the various 'Jipe' colors are different characters are not. It's not like Electix did a lot of detail with bios or anything. But, since there are not only new names but new faction sigils as well for these guys, I have to agree with Sipher that the categories should be separated out, even if there's not going to be a whole lot of text for them. -Vanguard 22:35, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Article name test case

OK, "Jipe" is Portuguese for "Jeep" (at least according to Google translate). According to the wiki standard for foreign language character names, the article name should move to the translated name, "Jeep." But the thing is, I just wrote that standard, and I'm not sure if moving to the translated name is the way the wiki really wants to go. So, should "Jipe" move to "Jeep," should the standard be changed, or should the standard stay the way it is but Jipe should stay here as an exception because he has been known as Jipe for a long time in the fandom? - Starfield 22:11, 30 July 2009 (EDT)

Why on earth did you write up a wiki standard that doesn't correspond to how we actually do things? We don't translate foreign names. The Trainbots and Dinoforce names are in Japanese, and they remain in Japanese. It's no different for South American toys. -- Monzo 22:16, 30 July 2009 (EDT)

I did not realize the names of the Trainbots and Dinoforce meant anything in English. I wrote the standard on how I thought the wiki did it and brought this up as a test case because I wasn't sure. - Starfield 22:19, 30 July 2009 (EDT)

Pronunciation

Yeah, the Portuguese pronunciation is pretty close to the English word. I think the pronunciation guide we had there predates the bit about the language being corrected from Spanish to Portuguese. I have corrected it, thanks! --abates 23:53, 1 December 2011 (EST)
