Talk:Kup (G1)
Does anyone else want to help work on this to make him the Featured Article for June? BotCon ends right as June begins, and Kup is the star of the set, so I thought it might be appropriate. --ItsWalky 11:57, 4 May 2009 (EDT)
- Logical choice. Just looks like he needs his Dreamwave and... er, dang near all of his cartoon section done. I'm in a G1-cartoon sorta place right now, so I'll take a whack at that part, and the associated Japanese gumpf. - Chris McFeely 12:19, 4 May 2009 (EDT)
- Shouldn't be too hard to get his IDW section up to date, either. I've got those issues sitting around. ...hey, does he HAVE merchandise? He's got a section for it and a stub template... --ItsWalky 12:21, 4 May 2009 (EDT)
- ...maybe a PVC? - Chris McFeely 12:22, 4 May 2009 (EDT)
- Nope. --Thylacine 2000 13:42, 4 May 2009 (EDT)
- No PVC in the HOC-era. No Kabaya kits, no MC Axis, no bottlecap statuettes I think, no MyClones (even wreck-gar got one of those!) no stamping sets... I think Kup might actually have no merchandise. -Derik 13:43, 4 May 2009 (EDT)
- I am completely apalled. - Chris McFeely 14:48, 4 May 2009 (EDT)

Hey, anyone know if Kup's TF Collection "Future Cybertron" bio got translated? Just wondering if it contains any information on how he got bonded to Recoil (operating, that is, on the assumption that in J-continuity, Recoil is a robot from Master). - Chris McFeely 16:05, 4 May 2009 (EDT)
I say, this is all looking rather spiffy. I've scanned his TFC bio and sent it to Spengs, so if there's anything there, I'll throw that in and we'll be golden. - Chris McFeely 16:48, 8 May 2009 (EDT)
Targetmaster
[edit]I just bought Kup with Recoil and he has die-cast metal parts just like the original figure. Are we sure there wasn't a run of TM Kup figures where the die-cast was retained? Feel free to blast me if this is a stupid question.Thirtysilver 21:55, 18 July 2009 (EDT)
- The TM Kup "Transformers Collection" reissue with Wheelie had die-cast. --ItsWalky 21:57, 18 July 2009 (EDT)
- My figure's copyright markings say 1986.Thirtysilver 05:50, 20 July 2009 (EDT)
- I had Targetmaster Kup in 1987, and while his wheels were solid plastic, his chest was definitely die-cast metal. I even scraped the paint to give him a more weathered look. I'd like to see one with a plastic chest, if such exists. Kyojikasshu (talk) 11:34, 24 April 2014 (EDT)

Up drawing thing
[edit]Fan club magazine is not part of Timelines. Maybe the heading title should be change for that section or have a note added. Item42 04:34, 5 June 2010 (EDT)
Wings of honor
[edit]Isn't Wing of honor supposed to go in with the cartoon continuity, so could we move that section up there? --Ninjabot33 06:12, 30 October 2010 (EDT)
- No, it's very similar to the cartoon continuity but there have been intentional deviations. The same can be said of things like Dreamwave and Blackthorn, so we should keep Wings where it is. Chip 08:21, 30 October 2010 (EDT)
- Well in that case can we move that section away from the cartoon continuity on some other characters pages? --Ninjabot33 09:09, 31 October 2010 (EDT)
Generations Kup instructions head
[edit]Does anybody know who the planned retool of Kup is or why the head discrepancy isn't noted in the main article? 134.71.80.204 18:28, 17 February 2011 (EST) (ZeldaTheSwordsman. P.S., I'm very, very, very sorry)
A possible retool could be Orion Pax, but as of today, Febuary 24 2011, we don't know who or what could be re-tooled,(Deceptiscourge45).
Experience Lad...
[edit]Anyone mind if the quote at the top is extended to include 'Experience lad, you should learn to appreciate it' as I feel this encapsulates kup a bit more? Durge 20:43, 27 April 2011 (EDT)
Targetmaster
[edit]I too have the Targetmaster version of this toy (and have had it since I was a kid, and have the instructions and part of the original box to prove it) and it indeed does have die cast metal. (Just the front windshield part of the truck. The wheels are plastic.) The date stamped onto the figure is 1986, though the date is stamped onto the part of the toy that has the hole for Recoil in truck mode. Were there two releases of the Targetmaster, one with die cast and one without?
Update: I posted this years ago and it appears others (above) are confirming that TM Kup does indeed have a die cast chest. I'm not an expert on variants so I was hesitant to update the page but now it seems we should? Skrollex (talk) 19:07, 10 May 2015 (EDT)
- From the forum posts I was able to scare up, it does look like Targetmaster Kup had a die cast cab/chest and it's only the rear wheels that changed from metal on the original to plastic on the Targetmaster. --abates (talk) 20:34, 10 May 2015 (EDT)
Generations Mold Glitch
[edit]I think info on the Generations Kup mold should include a note that the torso auto-transformation gimmick either isn't supposed to work, when transforming him back into a truck, or else something inside him gets out of alignment after the first couple of times transforming him, with the same result. I posted a thread on the Allspark about it, so I have confirmation that this is possibly a design flaw, because the E-Hobby version has the same glitch. SteamPunk Astrotrain 23:43, 25 July 2011 (EDT)
Kup alt mode?
[edit]https://twitter.com/TerminusArtwor1/status/1724194754349400495?t=CCvkoKSB2sUGkLAOdruk0Q&s=19 I was scrolling through Twitter and found this OC art, but the OCs alt mode resembles Kups for some reason (namely the front). The alt mode is an irl vehicle that looked way to see similar to me. Poliwag06 (talk) 20:08, 13 November 2023 (EST)
- There's a vague similarity, but it's almost certainly a coincidence, not least of which because that has one wheel in front and two in back, which is the opposite of Kup. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 20:31, 13 November 2023 (EST)
- I mean there's only so many ways to render "streamlined-ish demi-future pickup truck". And having fewer wheels than Kup ain't helping the case. I call coincidence. --M Sipher (talk) 22:17, 13 November 2023 (EST)
