Allspark Almanac

[edit]

I don't follow. Why isn't the ASA's stuff, which is in of Animated continuity, under a TF Animated header? Why do you say later writers aren't going to use it...? -Derik 01:36, 4 August 2011 (EDT)

There isn't a singular "Animated continuity". The fact that Animated Sky-Byte has two different looks is evidence of that and should answer your second question. —Interrobang 02:09, 4 August 2011 (EDT)
I'm not a big fan of authorial intent impacting interpretation of text, as is well known, but for what my opinion is worth The AllSpark Almanac and The AllSpark Almanac II are in the Animated cartoon continuity. We even explicitly state that idea, both in the introductions and in the form of the in-text Universal Stream designations. Nothing in either book contradicts anything that was in the cartoon nor in The Arrival comics. Plus the whole thing was run past Marty, Derrick, and Matt for comments and all of their notes were implemented.
Things like the Sky-Byte heads are the inevitable glitches that occur when multiple people play in the same universe. IMO, it shouldn't be given much more concern than one of the Lugnut Supremes having a purple Autobot symbol for a scene or BlackArachnia showing up in the wrong body in The Arrival. If you want an in-universe explanation, maybe Sky-Byte changed his look. It's a menu, so maybe it was an artistic interpretation or caricature. Or, since he was never named, maybe it's not even Sky-Byte. My point is that it's not hard to hand-wave these things away. It's not nearly on the level of, say, the three origins of the Constructicons from the Sunbow cartoon. I don't think it's even quite as bad as, say, the idea that it was hiding the AllSpark, um, I mean, building space bridges, no, sorry, Project Omega that won the Autobots the war. (Which I did attempt to hand wave away.)--Jimsorenson 02:32, 4 August 2011 (EDT)
Because a character having more than one head design is completely unheard of. Besides, going by Cybertron and Earth, there's no need to mention continuity at all. --Detour 02:45, 4 August 2011 (EDT)
Using ASA as a 'storylink' bugs me. I want there to be a page ref on something like that (the point of storylinks is to provide somewhere to go to for more context) yet clearly the info wants to be in a storylink. Maybe something like AllSpark Almanac 2 (p97-98) vs. AllSpark Almanac 2
I mean, these are basically <ref> type book citations, but using <ref>'s is both a pain in the ass, and unfriendly as hell to the reader. -Derik 03:17, 4 August 2011 (EDT)
