Cleanup

[edit]

So yeah, this article could stand some serious improvement, but I think deleting it would be a tad extreme. TVsGrady 00:18, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

It has one sentence. 22 words. Most of which are pronouns. It explicitly list shis function, which we don't do, and doesn't talk about his personality or his abilities. It calls his altmode 'some sort of car,' which isn't even correct, he's an amphibious transport! 22 words, minus pronoins, minus function, minus incorrect information leaves the word 'Walrus-man'. -Derik 00:30, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
What? Derik, we need a Longtooth page. Deletion is for material that has no place having its own article, and every single named Transformers character certainly deserves one. Yes, it was created badly, but we don't go around deleting the character stubs we have because they're not good enough. Why would we? --Rotty 00:38, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Or instead of marking it for deletion you could've added to it.

I admit it's subjective, but personally, I would rather have no article than an article that looks like this one did when it was created. I think marking awful stubs for deletion is reasonable. Yes, it would be even better to turn it into a real article. But that takes a lot more effort and whoever stumbles across the article might not have the time/inclination to do it. Simply marking an article for cleanup might not have any effect, and could leave the article languishing, in desperate need of attention, indefinitely. If it gets deleted, then at least it's no longer an embarassment. --Steve-o 14:25, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Red links denote nonexistant articles. This article consisted of 'walrus-man' and an incorrect description of Longtooth's altmode. It was essentially nonexistant, any attempt to improve it would mean discarding everything that was there and creating a new article. What we had was basically the word 'poop' sitting in an article that was causing a link that should be red (because there was no article) to be blue, it was actively interfering with the delivery of information on the wiki by promising false hope that there might be information here. -Derik 14:37, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

I see now that this page as it exists is still fairly new, so an error here or there is to be expected...

At that moment, Optimus Prime came out of the smoke and commended Longtooth on his fighting spirit and deciation to his fellow Autobot.

I'm not familiar with the word "deciation". It doesn't show up on dictionary.com or m-w.com, but a [search] gives a number of results. Is it actually a word, and just a very obscure one? What dictionary *is* it in, if so? --Sntint 08:24, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Based on the context, it appears to be a typo of "dedication." -- Dark T Zeratul 10:13, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
