Talk:Megatron (myth)
Isn't this Megatron (G1)? - Starfield 09:43, 31 May 2010 (EDT)
- Not necessarily. BW Megatron tried to make it apply to him after all. It's a prophesized figure, who that prophesy refers to is, as usual with these thihgs, up to interpretation.--99.65.198.45 10:06, 31 May 2010 (EDT)
- I don't see how you could reach that conclusion if you read this article. --ItsWalky 10:26, 31 May 2010 (EDT)
- OK, I read up some more on the Covenant, and it makes less sense than I remember. - Starfield 11:17, 31 May 2010 (EDT)
Megatronus
[edit]This may be a bit of a stretch, but I'll throw out here for consideration. Could there be a possible connection between this historical Megatron and Megatronus of The 13? I mean, both are terrible figures of history and bear quite similar names. Perhaps the last syllable got lost in translation of the Covenant of Primus or whatnot? (Something else to consider in a future Hasbro Q&A, maybe?) --Sabrblade 21:00, 13 July 2010 (EDT)
- Exodus pretty much makes Megatronus the person mentioned in the myths, and fills in a bit about the nature of the Covenant of Primus.--RosicrucianTalk 23:01, 13 July 2010 (EDT)
- So he is, or he isn't? --Sabrblade 23:14, 20 July 2010 (EDT)
- Mythical Megatron is retroactively Megatronus. The Megatron in the prophetic sections could be G1 or BW Megatron, but Exodus definitely points the tradition of warlords naming themselves Megatron towards the myth of Megatronus.--RosicrucianTalk 23:56, 20 July 2010 (EDT)
- In BW the mythical dude was named "Megatron". Just so we're clear and everything. Even if he is a singularity and stuff, in at least one continuity he wasn't named "Megatronus". - Starfield 12:33, 21 July 2010 (EDT)
- He may have been "Megatronus" originally, but by the time the story was written down it had been changed to Megatron. There's about 13.7 billion years of time for the story to have changed. --Khajidha 12:38, 21 July 2010 (EDT)
- [citation needed] - Starfield 12:42, 21 July 2010 (EDT)
- I'm not stating it as a fact, I'm pointing out that your statement that he wasn't called Megatronus in BW (while technically correct) is incomplete. It is best put that "in at least one continuity he is not yet known to have been called Megatronus". --Khajidha 12:46, 21 July 2010 (EDT)
- No offense, but if you aren't stating it as fact, there is no real reason to bring it up here on the wiki. The fact is, in BW he was named "Megatron". - Starfield 12:57, 21 July 2010 (EDT)
- Your statement "even if he is a singularity and stuff, in at least one continuity he wasn't named 'Megatronus'" just seemed to fall into the "I know better than Hasbro" area. I was just reminding you that Hasbro can change that at any time, and demonstrating how it could be done. --Khajidha 13:13, 21 July 2010 (EDT)

The article is called "Megatron (myth)" which is misleading. That makes it sound like he is a historical mythical character, like Megatronus. But really, this Megatron is a prophetic character, who was supposed to appear in the future. If you consider the Covenant of Primus prophecies to have been fulfilled in the Beast Wars, then "Megatron (myth)" turned out to be "Megatron (BW)". Anyway, I don't think he is similar to Megatronus at all. - Starfield 18:11, 18 January 2011 (EST)

[edit]On the subject of the first question, could it have been the original Megatron, considering that Megatron had his spark in his body at the time, so he could have been egotistically seeing himself as his own anscestor? (and that's not a reference to Futurama) 76.179.121.145 15:56, 18 January 2011 (EST)
