So should we genericize this guy's intro paragraph? He's been lots of different things in lots of different continuities. Or is his original portrayal Super Big Enough (like Galvatron being Megatron and created from Unicron) that it's important to keep? --ItsWalky 12:56, 7 January 2012 (EST)
- Well I'll tell ya, the reason I went with that approach for his intro paragraph, and did the same for the other Masterforce Pretenders, is because they shared the same backstory across their anime and manga portrayals, and putting it into the intro saved typing out identical stuff across two different sections (and also because this backstory was part of their original Japanese pack-in profile cards, so seemed like core stuff for the characters). With Metalhawk's expansion to numerous other pieces of fiction since, though, it does seem to make more sense to genericize the intro and cover his Japanese backstory twice-over in the anime and manga sections. I don't think the resultant intro will be terribly interesting, though, given his personality is "good and brave and sword." - Chris McFeely 14:29, 7 January 2012 (EST)
- I think we could keep "Autobot Pretender Commander" without any problem. He's that in both the original materials and in Classics. It's just, uh, sometimes he dies before he gets to be a Pretender. ....yeah. --ItsWalky 15:10, 7 January 2012 (EST)
- I think original Metalhawk, a main character in a franchise, is more important than some comics with a much smaller audience, to be honest. People are always going to think of him as That Original Pretender Guy From Masterforce. —Interrobang 20:37, 7 January 2012 (EST)
- Spanish: Hook (America)
W-wait, what? Takeshi357 (talk) 07:00, 15 February 2016 (EST)
- I've fixed the formatting on that entry, though I do wonder if someone misheard "Hawk". --abates (talk) 14:31, 15 February 2016 (EST)
- That formatting is terrible then! --abates (talk) 15:46, 15 February 2016 (EST)
- It makes sense to me? (Language)-(name)-(region or other condition). Keeps all of the names in a language together and is easier to skim through if you're looking for a specific language. (I don't know what's confusing Takeshi here, and I really don't care.) Saix (talk) 15:53, 15 February 2016 (EST)
- The item directly above it is <language>: <phonetic representation of name> (<name in original alphabet>, <translation of name>). It makes the list look inconsistently formatted. --abates (talk) 16:08, 15 February 2016 (EST)
- That just raises more questions, like why does a Japanese character have a Spanish name in America. Was the Botcon release bilingual? Takeshi357 (talk) 07:04, 16 February 2016 (EST)
- The note is using America in the older sense of the entirety of the New World. It should probably be changed to Latin America. --Khajidha (talk) 07:25, 16 February 2016 (EST)
- That makes more sense. But even then I'm inclined to agree it's probably a mishearing of "Hawk". Takeshi357 (talk) 08:46, 16 February 2016 (EST)

Wonderfest Garage Kits
[edit]I have a question: I've seen that there were garage kits sold during Wonderfest 2016 and 2017 which were allowed under license from Takara, with Metalhawk being one of them along with several other characters. Would it be fine to add these to the characters' pages, and if so, would they go under Merchandise? Chuckwagoneer (talk) 22:22, 18 May 2023 (EDT)
- Yes and yes. --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 22:59, 18 May 2023 (EDT)
