So...we can we stop the revert warring and talk this out like reasonable people? -- SFH 20:43, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Commissioned or non-commissioned?
[edit]"Minor is a commissioned officer rank "
The trainees refer to Sentinel Minor as "sarge" in "Autoboot Camp". In the current US military, sergeants are non-commissioned officers. So, either A) the above line should be changed to "Minor is a non-commissioned officer rank", or B) since we have no evidence that the Autobots have anything like the concept of "commissioned", it could be changed to just "Minor is a rank". Opinions? JW 12:26, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'd be happy to zap this page completely - we don't even have proof that it's a rank. Maybe Sentinel was named in honour of a hero from the Great War, and it's Minor as in Jr., which he got to drop when he became a Prime in his own right. As you note, he's referred to as "sergeant" or "sarge" the whole way through, rank-wise.
- But, for the record, we DO know they have non-coms, because Ratchet (at least) is a non-com. - SanityOrMadness 14:15, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, Ratchet is enlisted. Sentinel on the other hand is an Academy bot, and that's where my mental line between NCOs and commissioned officers tends to fall. NCOs are promoted from the enlisted ranks.--RosicrucianTalk 15:02, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Truth be told I'm going to launch Major (Rank) the two have pages that are based off roughly equivilant sources of info, so I'm going in. Lush City 16:56, 5 January 2012 (EST)
