The recent announcement of Legacy Elita-1's design has reminded me to discuss the goal of what should be taken live for this page. I started this sandbox by splicing Sunbow miscolouration examples from the citogenesis page, but Elita-1 is an outright case of misdrawn fan model, not colours. Should this page be expanded as such? At that point doesn't it move beyond "misinterpreting the G1 cartoon" and into something more like "fan art used as official sourcing" and if so, how is this different from IDW artists using 3P toys as artist's models? -hx (talk) 13:23, 22 April 2022 (EDT)

Having the bad models themselves

Previously on Discord the opinion has been against uploading the Ukrainian models themselves to avoid further proliferation, but we should make note of our reasoning here too. I do point out that on the main citogenesis page, row galleries of bad photo next to good photo have served the convenient function of side-by-side comparison. If we are to point out what the bad source of a Sunbow colouration is, then shouldn't we show, not tell? S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 17:45, 24 April 2022 (EDT)

Apologies for coming to this discussion very late, but now that the article is live, I would advocate mirroring the formatting on the final iteration of the main circular reporting page, ie a gallery with "correct model, incorrect model, resultant toy" side by side below the write-up. -AzimuthAcolyte (talk) 15:34, 30 July 2022 (EDT)

Revisiting the issue.

After the recent Instagram post about the Velocitron Cosmos toy, I'm once again coming back to this to say that we've made this whole "fake Ukraine models" thing more big than what it actually is. I've said for years that it's just as likely they were going off the cartoons themselves, and now that we have proof that at least one person has been doing what I've said has been happening, I really think we need to rethink how we present this.
