What exactly is upsetting you, again? Singularity 07:11, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

  • The ridiculous arbitrariness of your naming schema, most specifically your need to make a very simple system unnecessarily complex. Hooper X 07:12, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
    • You mean like moving stuff from "(UT)" to "(Unicron Trilogy)", of which... you seem to agree with (I don't particularly care for the "(Armada)" or "(Unicron Trilogy)" deal). Or "(cartoon)" to "(television series)" which is hardly complicated, nor does it particularly harm anybody (removes the fuzzy line between "animated series" and "comic"). It also streamlines it with the category and the constant references to "television series".

Or, uh, what? Singularity 07:31, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
      • I've actually kind of gone over to the other camp that, as long as there's a unified acronym for each era, the acronyms are considerably easier to use. Hooper X 07:32, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
        • That doesn't really help the peope who don't know what the acronyms stand for (Dirge (T)? UT? C'mon.) or the acronym is already taken (Hey, Bowel Machines.). Singularity 07:47, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
          • That's why we put the Unified Abbreviation System in the style guide. Duh. Hooper X 05:04, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

You are unnecessarily awesome. -Derik 04:12, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

EW Sky Lynx

  • When I get one, sure! -hx 12:27, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I thought you had this. You'd said they were out, and were going on about Lynx... gave me the impression you'd picked him up. Alrighty. --M Sipher 15:39, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
No - he's just that awesome. -hx 21:45, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

potential questions for hasbro in the future:

  • (for the entire TF team) The TF brand has presented hundreds, if not thousands of weird and wonderful characters over the last 25 years. Who are, respectively, your most and least favorite characters from TF history? (C'mon, be honest. We'll understand if you secretly hate Grapple.)
  • Over the years, the TF brand has featured many fun and memorable play features, from rub signs to triple changers to Action Masters. For the entire TF team: What are your favorite play gimmicks, aside from transformation itself?
  • We know that due to changes in toy safety laws, we're never getting a realistic hand-gun Megatron ever again. We've heard that the "spark-shooting" action found on some G1 toys is a similar situation. Can you confirm that the spark-shooting feature is no longer a possibility? Are there any other "classic" gimmicks we're unlikely to see in the future because of legal/safety concerns?
  • The unreleased Robot Heroes "Dessaras" figure - why was that name chosen? Did "Deathsaurus" fail to clear legal or were there other concerns (retailers/parents/children not wanting to buy a toy with the word "Death" in its name, "Deathsaurus" being an admittedly goofy moniker, etc.)
  • In regards to store exclusives, how much input does the retail partner have into the finished product? Is it "give us X figures at price point Y" or is it more hands-on than that - "give us an Autobot car and a Decepticon jet, and the Autobot should be in such-and-such a color scheme..."
  • At one point near the end of the Alternators sub-line, a major retailer's computer system listed several toys that never saw the light of day - Megatron as a Cadillac, as well as repaints of the Scion and Mustang molds. Who were the Scion and Mustang intended to be, if they even got to that stage of development? (No.)
  • (for the entire TF team) Fun/silly question: If you could make a Transformer toy of anything in the world that hasn't ALREADY been a Transformers toy, what would it be? You can be as specific (1974 AMC Javelin, P-38 Lightning, Cobra HISS) or as general (school bus, tractor, port-a-potty) as you wish. (You know, whatever.)
  • Based on past releases, it seems to be possible to repair older molds to restore detail lost with repeated use. Specifically, the G1 Jazz mold appears to have had its face detail corrected between the 2003 U.S. reissue and the 2004 release of the mold as Ricochet. Are there limits to how much damage can be repaired, or is it just a matter of whether it's economically feasible to repair a mold? (Yes.)
    • Recent releases of the Classics Starscream mold seem to be showing some degree of mold wear and tear from use. Are there any plans to repair or re-cut the mold to restore its clarity? (Maybe.)
  • Regarding the larger, transformable, Titanium Series figures: Is it possible to manufacture these figures using plastic instead of die-cast, or would using plastic potentially limit the durability, integrity, or stability of the finished product?
  • Can you guys please ask around over at Tomy and find out who's writing the story materials for the Alternity line? There are a bunch of great callouts to U.S. fiction going on over there, and we'd like to give credit where credit is due. NEVER MIND.
  • During the "Unicron Battles" era of the Armada toy-line, packaged samples of redecoed versions of the Adventure, Space, and Street Speed Mini-Con teams appeared on various auction sites. Why were these items never released commercially?
  • It's understood that Hasbro now owns the intellectual property related to the Tonka GoBots - but exactly how much does Hasbro own? Could we see a DVD release of "Challenge of the GoBots"? Is it possible that the GoBots stories could one day be retroactively integrated into TF continuity, much as M.A.S.K. was retroactively inserted into GIJoe's via the Matt Trakker figure? (Not really.)
  • Is there an industry term for the various catalogs, flyers, DVDs, comics and other materials sometimes packaged in with Transformers figures? (All the stuff that isn't the instruction sheet, effectively.) (Not really, apparently!)
  • It's great to see obscure characters from the early Transformers media get official identities, like Acid Storm. Are there official identities for the other "Rainmakers" seen alongside him in the cartoon episode "Divide and Conquer"? (Some fans claim that Sunstorm is the yellow one, but the blue guy definitely has no name.) (No.)
  • At various points, licensees like Marvel Comics and some of the Japanese-market publication have held "Create a Transformer" contests. Does Hasbro/Tomy own the rights to characters generated in such contests, and if so, could we ever see, say, Sunbender or Star Upper again? (Maybe.)
  • As far back as the original 1984 toyline, we've seen Transformer characters referred to as "brothers," as well as relationships like "cousins" and even a "great-aunt Arcee." Can you explain how robots can have "brothers," much less "cousins"? (Later.)
  • Can you give us any information on the production house that's doing the Transformers: Cyber Missions webisodes? Who are they? Where do they come from? What do they want to do with their lives?
  • So Megatron has already been inducted into the Transformers Hall of Fame. Does that mean that Galvatron is already in the Hall of Fame too, or would he have to be voted in by fans? (No.)
  • The instruction art for multiple recent toys depict head toolings that are presumably intended for a later release of the mold (i.e., War for Cybertron Bumblebee's instruction art is drawn with the head of the forthcoming Cliffjumper figure). Is there a particular reason for this? A reward or sneak peek for eagle-eyed fans? Is it so you can readily reuse the instruction art later, or what?
  • It's really cool how current Generations/Reveal the Shield product is being designed with future retools in mind - the alternate heads and gear go a long way towards creating the image of a completely new character. Is there any chance you can tell us what retool you have in mind for Reveal the Shield Jazz? it's worth a shot - that's how we found out about Generations Blurr...
  • The instruction art for multiple recent toys depict head toolings that are presumably intended for a later release of the mold. Notably, Generations Thunderwing's art has a new head and chest that seem to be inspired by the Japanese Generation One character "Black Shadow." Is this actually the case? If so, will he still have the original figure's characterization of a gangster/mafioso type? (Because if so, that is SO AWESOME.)
  • There is a quasi-urban rumor floating around the fandom that the 2006 "Classics" Megatron figure cannot be re-released in the United States due to changes in various safety regulations. Can you confirm or deny this?
  • PROBABLY SOMETHING TO ASK AT BOTCON OR SOMEWHERE LESS FORMAL: In the past, as various third party fan manufacturers have produced items based on the Transformers IP, Hasbro & Takara have swiftly put out product on the market featuring similar permutations of the IP (i.e. Universe Wheelie, Cyclonus, and Powerglide all hitting shelves shortly after the limited Jizaitoys releases). This seems like a conscious decision on the part of the TF brand - why? Is it seen as a kind of "design-off" or friendly challenge? Is it to offer collectors official versions of those characters as opposed to "bootlegs"? Or is it a simple case of IP protection?
  • AGAIN, SOMETHING TO ASK AT BOTCON OR SOMEWHERE: Does Hasbro distinguish between third-party items meant to modify or improve pre-existing official product (i.e., fan-made accessory packs that require the user to already own official product) and completely new third-party products that stand alone?
  • ONE MORE LIKE THIS: As you are probably aware, there are groups in Asia who are producing unofficial versions of Transformer product that Hasbro has proven unwilling or incapable of producing (i.e., Generation 1 toys where the original molds are believed to be lost or destroyed). If it were possible to secure those toolings (via legal action, for instance), would you be willing to produce official releases of said items?
  • Regarding the Hall of Fame: Optimus Prime and Megatron are already inducted into the HOF. Does that induction include Optimus Primal and Predacon Megatron, or are they separate characters for this purpose?
  • FOR THE MARVEL TEAM: The packaging for the Marvel Transformers says Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic built the battlesuits using "alien technology." Were those aliens the Transformers? If so, was it an information exchange, or a gift, or did they cut up a bunch of Decepticon corpses and see what they could make of them? (The thought of them cutting up Autobot corpses is a bit much!)

"...One from the vaults."?

I don't get it? --MistaTee 21:14, 5 November 2009 (EST)

It's a bit from Rocky Horror Picture Show, giving it nearly 10 times more Nerd Cred by volume than a prostate joke where "prostate" is misspelled. -hx 08:12, 6 November 2009 (EST)
Gotcha. Never saw RHPS, but no need to get snarky about a misspelling, considering I fix them myself on a bunch of pages every day. I think one slipping through is forgivable. I'm not a n00b here. --MistaTee 10:49, 6 November 2009 (EST)
No need to get snarky? Dude, that's practically all I do here. -hx 12:14, 6 November 2009 (EST)

Convincing Derrick J. Wyatt to hate the wiki. Pat yourself on the back. - Cattleprod 15:25, 28 September 2010 (EDT)

Wait, what? Explain. -- Semysane 16:22, 28 September 2010 (EDT)
He added "Molestache" as a caption to a picture of Derrick with a moustache. Derrick requested it to be taken down because he found it offensive. --NCZ 16:26, 28 September 2010 (EDT)
Nice. Smart AND classy. -- Semysane 16:27, 28 September 2010 (EDT)
I can't believe you guys would give in to possibly a Derrick impersonator's bawwwing and take out something truly funny. Besides, it was Derrick's fault that he grew the molestache in question. --LokitheGrammarNazi 16:30, 28 September 2010 (EDT)
A: Someone else said that it really was him, and B: That's a really insensitive response. Even if it isn't him, I don't think it's a good idea to imply that Derrick J. Wyatt molests children, even if it's a joke. --NCZ 16:35, 28 September 2010 (EDT)
I was really confused at first because I was reading it as 'mole - stash'. Once I realized that it was supposed to be 'mo-less-tash', I think it was way over the line and should have been taken down no matter who the complainant was. --Khajidha 16:38, 28 September 2010 (EDT)
Pretty sure it probably was Wyatt. --96.240.210.150 16:44, 28 September 2010 (EDT)
Who complained is pretty damn irrelevant, I would've reverted it myself if I had actually seen it before today. That crossed the line, and it wasn't even against someone who deserved such viciousness). - Cattleprod 16:54, 28 September 2010 (EDT)
Think we should try and do something to make good with Wyatt? I'd hate to get on a creator's bad side because of one joke done in terrible taste. -- Semysane 22:15, 28 September 2010 (EDT)
An apology from the Wiki would be a start. I'm happy to give it myself if it will help. --abates 00:41, 29 September 2010 (EDT)
I think it would carry more weight coming from an admin rather than just the rank and file. --Tigerpaw28 00:44, 29 September 2010 (EDT)
Probably, but I think hearing that the rank and file are personally upset as well would be good too. --Khajidha 06:30, 29 September 2010 (EDT)
HEY GUYS WHAT DID I MISS ohshi...

Seriously? Okay, the joke was in dubious taste. That's kind of my thing. Derrick wasn't happy with it, so it was removed. That's how wikis work. Assuming he sees this, as the person who posted said caption, it sucks that he got upset and I'm sorry about that. Consider this an apology. -hx 05:59, 30 September 2010 (EDT)

Less captiony, more contenty!

If you haven't yet contributed anything, we'd really rather you didn't simply change jokes or add new ones without adding actual content. This also holds true for removing captions whole-hog or replacing them with "information" that really isn't.
Remember, we're meant to be informative first, funny second. Write an episode summary, check out the Most Wanted Pages list or the Stubs list.

What the subject says. Over half of your edits are just adding or changing captions. --ItsWalky 12:46, 17 February 2011 (EST)

hahahah oh man really? Is this a Walky Joke? I thought the way this worked was essentially "tenure." Once you put in your licks building content (like say, all those Sticker Adventures books), you earn your stripes and can screw around a bit more. (Also - wait. NASCAR is inevitably going to need expanding Real Soon, and I think I'm the only editor who follows it.) -hx 06:13, 18 February 2011 (EST)

methods of getting rid of hooper x

[edit]
  • Hypnotise him into jumping of a cliff lol
  • knock his toilet out of him
  • drop him in a pit of bogeys
  • suspend him by his toe in a pot of camel wee-wee
  • cube him
  • flatten him
  • MURDER HIM WITH A CANNON!!!!
This isn't actually a message board about hx, it's his talk page to leave him messages, which will activate the minute he goes to a new page. You just told him that you want to get rid of him. -- SFH 15:53, 21 February 2011 (EST)

Is he the same dude who wants you dead (apparently)? Edit: (FFN reads above). Wow, that was a dumb joke caption you pulled on Derrick Wyatt, man. --FFN 19:58, 23 May 2011 (EDT)
Yeah, well. Some people just can't take a joke (in retrospect, making that joke about someone who's primary job description could be technically considered "children's entertainer" was unwise, but seriously. mustache.) -hx 08:03, 24 May 2011 (EDT)

Shoes

[edit]

Was there an article you wrote about south-American shoe commercials... or something?

Was it lost in the crash, or am I just not finding it? -Derik 02:03, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

There was, and it was. It was at Bata, I believe. I can summarize it for you real quick - it was a brief history of the company from wikipedia, a plot synopsis of the commercial with discussion of the weird unique animation errors (oddly colored Cyclonus and Jazz, IIRC) and then a bit about the shoes themselves that I got from a Chilean friend - they were plain black leather shoes that you'd wear with a school uniform. No actual TF markings on the shoes, just the boxes. They promoted the same shoes with other franchises in similar ways. It's probably my favorite thing I wrote for the wiki and it was lost in the crash. -hx 22:46, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

Er...

Because it's that are still an asshole, but act like you aren't one, but yet you still-- wait... you admit that you're an asshole! HA! 66.82.162.14 18:33, 23 August 2011 (EDT)

G1 affiliate Stations

[edit]
As I noted on User_talk:Tigerpaw28/List_of_Transformers_TV_Stations#Atlanta, I've found G1 cartoon promos for WAGT in Atlanta. You seemed pretty well convinced along with a few other fans that it ran on WGNX. So it must've run on both stations at different points in time I'm guessing. Does that sound plausible/ring any bells? --Tigerpaw28 (talk) 19:57, 8 December 2013 (EST)
WAGT is Augusta, GA. -hx (talk) 08:09, 9 December 2013 (EST)
Ah, thanks Hoop. Feeling a bit sheepish now. I looked the station up on Wikipedia yesterday and I could've sworn it said Atlanta. But checking again it says Augusta. Must've gotten mixed up. --Tigerpaw28 (talk) 14:15, 9 December 2013 (EST)
