Talk:Monstructor (G1)

Where does all the "Lord of Darkness"-y stuff come from? His toy bio simply say's that he's pretty strong, and he was a pretty crappy (and ugly) Gestalt, if I remember right.--Octopus Prime- King of the Road! 12:03, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

I believe it's from his bio in Dreamwave's "More Than Meets The Eye" profile books. --KilMichaelMcC 12:21, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Correct. His MTMTE bio (one of the coolest in the series) establishes him as basicly a Lovecraftian force of darkness and corruption. It's a great use of an otherwise totally neglected toy.

I'a Monstructor! I'A! I'A!

What criteria are being used to call him the only G1 toy with no boxart? The Powerdashers and Omnibots don't have "box art", although there was some painted art for them in their mailaway forms. (I don't think Drill Dasher or F-1 Dasher had any, but I could easily be wrong.) None of the Sixcombiner components had their own art, which seems to me at least as legitimate as saying a combiner sold in parts had no boxart. Dreadwing and Big Powered also don't have their own art, although they're not robots. Does that matter? -LV 16:02, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

"In this story, Monstructor has an extra pair of Tyrannosaurus-esque arms, horrifyingly reminiscent of the Beast." For what it's worth, those are Slog's monster mode arms. --Terrocon Blot 11:28, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Team Leader?

[edit]

Just curious, where is it established that Icepick is the team leader? (As a kid I always imagined it Slog just cause he formed the chest/head.) --ZacWilliam 15:50, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

It seemed so in the Marvel comic. See Icepick's page. --MistaTee 16:28, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
It's really a stretch to say Icepick's the leader, if the Marvel comics are all we're going off of. He didn't do anything very leaderish. -- Repowers 19:24, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Is there anything in Dreamwave's MTMTE profiles? --MistaTee 21:02, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
I always kinda liked to think that it was kinda a Constructicons thing...that Slog and Icepick shared leadership, sort of like Scrapper and Hook seemed to do.--Nu-Priest 12:43, 6 July 2010 (EDT)

At the Mountains of Monstructor

[edit]

Wouldn't bother bringing this up but for the recent revert.... Perhaps I'm missing some bizarre usage of "instinct" from Lovecraft or Derleth, but I can't find a legit definition of it as an adjective. From context, "infused" or "suffused" might work better.--Apcog 21:27, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

That puzzled me, too, but it's legit. Per M-W, "instinct" as an adjective means "profoundly imbued; infused". JW 21:47, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Huh, never heard that one before.
As for "it's", that's referring to the malignancy, not Monstructor himself. It can read the other way too, I suppose, but it's kinda awkward to have two clauses in a row starting with "his". -- Repowers 22:05, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
"that's referring to the malignancy"
I saw that was a possible way of reading it, but I don't really think his malignancy is shaped like a robot. You need more pathetic fallacy than I can muster for that to make sense. JW 22:21, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
A malignancy, a ghost, an old evil, a dark god, whatever -- why can't it have a form? -- Repowers 22:27, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
I wrote the entry, and all the weird language is indeed borrowed pretty much exact from Lovecraft. Including "instinct". I had a bunch of Lovecraft sitting around at the time and I just copied pretty much exact quotes and language and tweeked the nouns to fit Monstructor.--ZacWilliam 23:07, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
I just have to applaud you for the Lovecraft reference. It works perfectly.... Wonderful... Shadow Mask Prime 17:40, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Megatron Origin cameo?

[edit]

Is he really in Megatron origin #2? I don't see him and he isn't listed in the cameos on Megatron Origin issue 2. - Starfield 13:07, 9 August 2009 (EDT)

Page three, panel 2. His head and chestplate are visible. --Nu-Priest 18:13, 10 August 2009 (EDT)
Ah, yes. There is even a little face on his chestplate. - Starfield 20:01, 10 August 2009 (EDT)
