Well, three points:

1. There is a serious dearth of female TFs in general, and female 'Cons in particular - and most of those that DO exist are terminally obscure for a series that looks to be leaning heavily on the 80s versions specifically (a huge percentage of them, maybe as many as half, come from that mayfly Chinese MMO!). By comparison, Nightbird's reasonably recognisable/known and passes for Cybertronian on a 'squint test'.
2. It's a new continuity, there's no reason she couldn't be Cybertronian in this if Scioli wants to make her so. (Counterpoint - on the same basis, he could have her be of human origin, yet still have become a full-fledged 'Con - depends partially on her level of focus. Speaking of which...)
3. There's no guarantee she wouldn't/won't end up as background filler anyway, which would make panicking over it doubly silly :p
