Shouldn't the AM in the title be capitalized? Khajidha 16:02, 9 January 2010 (EST)
- More relevantly, shouldn't this be under Ultra Magnus (G1)/toys#Merchandise instead of its own page? --Jeysie 16:14, 9 January 2010 (EST)
- The image really needs a better filename too. --abates 16:32, 9 January 2010 (EST)
- Well, presumably Fairplaythings was taking a cue from Freedom Fighter and Enemy. In this case, though, if the "character" of the radio were named anything, it would be "Heroic Autobot". --Monzo 16:39, 9 January 2010 (EST)
- Well, yes, but Enemy and Freedom Fighter are technically their own characters. Guess it depends on whether this is a "new" character or not. Still needs a better name either way, though, agreed. --Jeysie 18:14, 9 January 2010 (EST)
- On the box I think the name would typically come after "Heroic Autobot", so he might be truly nameless. - Starfield 13:34, 10 January 2010 (EST)

- I'm with Jeysie, this belongs in Ultra Magnus's merchandise, not its own page. --Detour 13:38, 10 January 2010 (EST)

Release year?
[edit]The release year on this should be 1986, no? --Tigerpaw28 16:58, 9 January 2010 (EST)
- Though it seems strange, both the box and the radio are stamped with the 1985 date. There is no reference to "Ultra Magnus" anywhere associated with this character. "Heroic Autobot" must be his name. Maybe he's Magnus' brother. lol --Fairplaythings 02:27, 10 January 2010 (EST)
- Heh, alright. Whether the character is intended to be Magnus or not, it's still clearly modeled after his design and final color scheme. And while it's not unheard of to market merchandise featuring characters not currently (or ever) in the main line, the fact that this uses Magnus' final color scheme means it had to be put into production after that scheme was finalized and approved. I would think that happened at least in the second half of 1985.
- In regards to the copyright date, I had a feeling that was the case. However, I don't think that a copyright date necessarily equates to the first year of release. I ran into this conundrum while trying to date other TF merchandise. The number of items with a 1984 copyright date seems far too large. I can't see Hasbro getting so many licensing deals before knowing whether the toyline was a hit. On top of that, I found that there are kites with a 1984 copyright date. I would assume that Hasbro didn't market anything Transformers prior to August or September 1984. Even August of 1984 is pretty late in the year to be marketing kites in the United States and/or Canada (the only two markets to receive TFs in 1984). That makes it much more likely that they were marketed starting in 1985 and simply have older copyright dates. --Tigerpaw28 13:15, 10 January 2010 (EST)
Exact replica?
[edit]- He is an almost exact replica of the toy head of the original Ultra Magnus.
Surely something that takes four AA batteries can't be an exact replica. Upsized, perhaps...--RosicrucianTalk 02:32, 10 January 2010 (EST)
