I'm realizing that no, no way that's a coincidence - the details of the toy itself line up with the way Chen has drawn him too, most prominently those three protruding wedges on either side of his chest. Gears might be based on the "Cogz" figure too. - Chris McFeely 11:22, 19 June 2013 (EDT)

Perception filter

Considering Roberts is a known fan of Doctor Who I would have thought 'clearly inspired by the "Somebody Else's Problem" fields' from Hitchhikers is speculation at best. I would have thought the Dr Who explanation is probably the most likely, it at least deserves a mention or a caveat. Mister Jazz 16:43, 19 June 2013 (EDT)

Yeah, although the Who perception filter was no doubt inspired by the Hitchhiker's SEP field, we've no idea which, if either, Roberts was giving a nod to. I say we either try and ask him on Twitter, or note both Who and H2G2 in the article. Jalaguy 17:12, 19 June 2013 (EDT)
