Talk:Shockwave (disambiguation)
Energon Shockblast
[edit]Energon Shockblast is listed under "major Shockwaves", but excluded from the "full list of Shockwaves", instead relegated to the "Not to be confused with..." section. Does anyone else find this a tad confusing, especially for a reader not particularly familiar with Transformers? I'm not saying I have a better suggestion, I just find it... less than optimal.--Nevermore (talk) 17:02, 23 June 2016 (EDT)
- I can't see it being that confusing, honestly. --Riptide (talk) 17:08, 23 June 2016 (EDT)
- I'm going to change it for consistency, but I'm reluctant to have to put in "Shockwave / Shockblast" into the opening. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 19:43, 23 June 2016 (EDT)
- Fact: he's not a major Shockwave. His name is Shockblast. Seems simple. -Crockalley (talk) 20:17, 23 June 2016 (EDT)
- Hasbro considers him a version of the name "Shockwave", which is why he's on the major section of this page at all. Leaving him out would go against our goal to inform readers. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 20:39, 23 June 2016 (EDT)
- I see no harm in including him in the array of mug shots. Regarding including him in the "Full list of Shockwaves" rather than "Not to be confused with" - I think we could do so, but have him at the bottom along the lines of "Shockblast, the Decepticon tank/satellite from Energon. Though not named Shockwave for reasons, Shockblast is considered to be an incarnation of Shockwave." --abates (talk) 22:05, 23 June 2016 (EDT)
- Shockblast definitely gets included in the mugshots, at the very least. --ItsWalky (talk) 22:11, 23 June 2016 (EDT)
- Perhaps the opening description could mention that some of those who bear the "Shockwave" name are sometimes known as "Shockblast", allowing Energon Shockblast to be included in the main list. --Sabrblade (talk) 00:27, 24 June 2016 (EDT)
- Hmm, now that I've given it some thought... here's my proposal: Energon Shockblast is put in the "full list of Shockwaves" like this:

- {{#ifeq: 2004|none| |2004}} — Shockblast, the Decepticon tank/satellite from Energon, named "Shockblast" instead of "Shockwave" for trademark reasons, despite explicitly being considered a "Shockwave" character by Hasbro.
- Would that work?--Nevermore (talk) 06:24, 24 June 2016 (EDT)
- "...so named for trademark reasons." would be more concise and sum it up fine, I think. - Chris McFeely (talk) 06:28, 24 June 2016 (EDT)

- Better?--Nevermore (talk) 09:20, 24 June 2016 (EDT)
- Drop everything after the word "reasons". --Sabrblade (talk) 11:14, 24 June 2016 (EDT)

Question
[edit]Does anyone know the OFFICIAL name for G1 Shockwave’s Hand-Cannon Thing? Not to be confused with his “Laser Vulcan” alt mode. I’ve been looking all over the place, all day, trying to figure out the name of his gun, and I can’t figure it out. I even checked “Category:Generation 1 weapons”, and I STILL couldn’t find it. Can someone please help me out here? Also, please help me figure out how to use this “edit” thing, I just made my account not that long ago and idk how this works - Toasted Roasted Peanuts (talk) 9:53, 14 September 2019 (CDT)
- Shockwave's Dreamwave MTMTE profile just refers to it as his "cannon arm". --Sabrblade (talk) 23:40, 14 September 2019 (EDT)
- Yeah, I'm not sure it has an official name. I've only ever head it colloquially referred to as an arm cannon or cannon arm. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 23:41, 14 September 2019 (EDT)
- I could only figure out the name of Shockwave's cannon in the Aligned Continuity, which is referred to as the "Hyperflux Cannon", but there's nowhere on this wiki (or at least, that I can find) that says the name of his cannon in the Generation 1 Cartoon Continuity. - Toasted Roasted Peanuts (talk) 2:40, 15 September 2019 (CDT)
- It didn't have one on the cartoon. I'm not even sure it had one on the instruction sheet with his toy. -'Khajidha (talk) 19:16, 15 September 2019 (EDT)
- The Power Plans that came with his Action Master figure call that part of his body a "relay modulator". --Khajidha (talk) 19:21, 15 September 2019 (EDT)
- thanks, Khajidha, that sounds about right. If anyone else can find anything about Shockwave’s Hand Cannon, let me know. - Toasted Roasted Peanuts (talk) 12:10, 18 September 2019 (CDT)
