So... since the whole issue is a flashback, I guess we're putting the present day in italics?--RosicrucianTalk 17:37, 22 May 2013 (EDT)

That's tends to be how I personally approach stories with sections that are chronologically or narratively concurrent. Whichever section is the "lesser" part of the story - a framing sequence, a prologue, an epilogue, whether set in the past or future - I put that bit in italics, like I did for, say, any of the three parts of "Shadowplay", or "Under Cold Blue Stars", or "Before & After". - Chris McFeely 04:57, 23 May 2013 (EDT)

Arduria ore numbering

[edit]

Rechecking my online copy, it says Ore-6, not Ore-4. Is it different in the print version? Mimi 07:38, 23 May 2013 (EDT)

......nope, I'm just a goon. - Chris McFeely 07:59, 23 May 2013 (EDT)

Megatron Origin #3 continuity

[edit]

So, this issue seems to greatly expand the timeframe presented in MO #3.

In that comic, Soundwave introduces Megatron to Starscream, apparently for the first time. Megatron wants Starscream for the attack on Decimus, and has Hook modify him accordingly, promising Starscream will "wear his badge". The Seekers' kidnapping of Decimus is one of many Decepticon terrorist assaults shown, culminating in the big rally at the climax of the book. Sentinel Prime and the Security Service arrive, rescue Decimus, and capture the crowd, leading directly into the execution of the Senate and the overthrow of Kaon in #4. As presented, the whole sequence seems to cover a day or two, at most.

In RID #17, though, Shockwave is woven into these events, and a greater span of time is implied. He is recruited by Starscream and Megatron together, so it must occur after the first scene from MO #3. Assuming the events in #17 are presented linearly, Shockwave then spends a great deal of time associated with the Decepticons, working on Megatron's combiner technology and his own secret projects, before Megatron eventually says "Tomorrow we strike the Senate. Get yerself some hands."

So where does this gap in time take place? I see two spots: after Starscream's recruitement but before the strike on Decimus, or after the strike but before Sentinel's raid. This either greatly expands the time it took to modify and prep the Seekers, or the time it took Sentinel to locate the missing Senator Decimus after his kidnapping. Megatron's remark upon first meeting Shockwave that he may be considered "terrorist or freedom fighter" doesn't make sense when he was just an illegal gladiator, pushing it towards the second gap.

Thoughts? --Xaaron 09:36, 23 May 2013 (EDT)

I would guess that it's following the Seekers' induction and the funeral scene, but prior to the capture of Decimus. It's not like Megatron said "hey Hook, go trick out these Seekers especially so they can go kidnap Decimus", and the little monitor montage with Ratbat shows a bunch of stuff that Megatron's forces have been up to that looks like more than a few days work. A more extended period of general getting-up-to-no-good also allows for Megatron to have developed that reputation as a terrorist, and you also have to bear in mind the slight retcon that Shadowplay introduced of the Decepticon movement already having become a thing prior to MO, based on Megatron's writings, meaning that by returning to Cybertron and parading around with a Decepticon badge Megatron was basically declaring himself a dissident by default, even if he himself had yet to personally do that much stuff. The alternative is that Megatron was just keeping Decimus locked up somewhere for the entire duration of this issue's flashback, which seems unlikely. Jalaguy 10:20, 23 May 2013 (EDT)
