Skullsmasher trademark issues

[edit]

"Name changed for trademark issues" seems to be the go-to reason the wiki gives whenever a character's name is changed. Does the wiki know trademark issues is the reason for Skullsmasher's name change, or is just assuming? - Gimmick (talk) 18:56, 20 July 2016 (EDT)

I agree. I'm always a little irked when I read that. I'm sure there are cases where we've heard that from Hasbro officially, but I think the assumption is made too often without real evidence. It's possible, maybe even probable, but the assumptions are getting a bit too automatic for my tastes. -Crockalley (talk) 21:59, 7 August 2016 (EDT)
This is one assumption I am okay with. There aren't too many reasons Hasbro would change the name of a character as this makes it harder for them to build the characters as recognizable properties. The only other fairly common reason is unintended meanings (Slag, Slapper, Spastic, etc).--Khajidha (talk) 07:18, 8 August 2016 (EDT)
Or discouraged words for children's toys: Killbison, Deathsaurus, Hellbat, etc. --Xaaron (talk) 08:54, 8 August 2016 (EDT)
While I agree that the likeliest reason is probably the truth, I also don't think that it would hurt for us to add a "likely" to the statement regarding name change. "Name likely changed for trademark issues". --DrSpengler (talk) 08:59, 8 August 2016 (EDT)
I won't object if people want to put a "likely" or "presumably" in the notes (or adding an actual ref that it was for TM reasons0. --Khajidha (talk) 09:34, 8 August 2016 (EDT)

Cuts

[edit]

Been meaning to ask this (haven't gotten around to do that, unfortunately) but y'all got two small cuts on the legs ball joint socket? I wonder if this is like a minor widespread issue on all copies of the TR mold or not.Wildstreak (talk) 08:42, 12 May 2021 (EDT)
