Talk:Skywarp (G1)

In all seriousness, I'd support a 'Seeker' category. -Derik 02:05, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Not Intelligent?

[edit]

Skywarp's (GEN 1) tech-specs did indeed describe himi as being not terribly bright. HOWEVER: On the graph thingy, Skywapr's intelligence weighed in at 9. Anyone understand this?71.34.68.213 20:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

From the page itself, conveniently located at "article" above-
(Note: For some reason, the stats on Skywarp's, Starscream's and Thundercracker's tech specs were switched around. Skywarp was given Starscream's numbers, which explains his high intelligence and rank.)

Speed?

[edit]

Skywarp's (GEN 1) speed was 7, the same as most of the Autobot cars, and actually slower than Optimus Prime. Prime is a tractor-trailer, Skywarp is a fighter jet! WTF?71.34.68.213 20:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

First: Actually, Skywarp's speed was 10, though that was intended for Starscream; Thundercracker's speed, meant for Skywarp, was 9. It was Machine Wars Skywarp that had speed 7.
Second: Tech spec numbers are often really weird, and Prime's in particular are consistently very high. --Andrusi 23:10, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Actually, it was just Skywarp's and Starscream's stats that were switched. Thundercracker's stats are correct. Bob Budanski's stat grid for the 1984 line confirms this. --FortMax 00:43, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Subtitle error

[edit]

I kinda feel tempted to add how dutch subtitles for G1 embaressingly call him stanwell in the key to vector sigma, but i also feel it's not worth adding. So i'm gonna need the opinion of a few other people here. 86.87.28.191 20:35, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't recall Skywarp being in either part of The Key to Vector Sigma. -- SFH 20:40, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
I'll check my dvd's to make sure which ep it was. there's many embaressing mistakes in the subtitles,Huffer interestingly becomes hauler,Prowl becomes "POW!",Motormaster becomes Movefastor, etc etc etc. Also there was either Autobods or Ottobots,I'd Have to check which one it is.86.87.28.191 21:06, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
That's not a subtle subtitle error! -Derik 21:42, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
How is it not one? -- 86.87.28.191 19:34, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Look up the word 'subtle', then you'll know why it's not subtle. Jeep! 02:08, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Oops i missed the word "subtle" there. Decepticon Rhinox 18:41, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Universe Toy - Forward-Swept Wings?

[edit]

Same problem as Jhiaxus: Skywarp's Universe toy is a redeco of Jetstorm. Jetstorm normally has forward-swept wings in vehicle mode. The pic of his toy on this page has them swept back. Is this correct for the character? When he appeard in the Wreckers comic in this body, in vehicle mode, which way did his wings point? Or did he never appear in vehicle mode in this body? Stairs

[edit]

Maybe I'm just missing something, but where did the whole "pushing down the stairs" gag start? Thanos6 05:17, 28 April 2009 (EDT)

I'm confused about that too. ---Blackout- 14:21, 19 September 2009 (EDT)
Seriously, where DOES that joke come from? Skyshock Thunderblast 23:01, 3 November 2009 (EST)
M Sipher sums it up nicely in the intro blurb of this custom.

There's a piece of Skywarp artwork in the Genesis art book by Guido Guidi, [...] It's great. He's got this wonderful evil smirk, and he's pumping his fist in the air. Liquid Velcro! described the picture as if "Skywarp had just watched Ramjet slip on the roller skate he put in front of the stairs"... which then struck most of us in the chat room as a very, very, very Skywarp thing to do. The vision so easily popped into my head. He puts the skate down, Ramjet slips on it and tumbles face-first down a flight of stairs... and Skywarp just goes "Heheheheheh. AWESOME." and pumps his fist in the air.

Skywarp pushing people down stairs and laughing about it basically became, to us, the Official Skywarp Thing, despite his having never done that in any offical fiction.

There you have it, folks. --Detour 23:07, 3 November 2009 (EST)
Wasn't this actually mentioned in the trivia section when it was brought up last, before being wiped out by Bookworm? Should we put it in there now? It is a particularly obscure in-joke to be referenced so many times without any explanation. - Magnus Maximus 03:39, 4 November 2009 (EST)

Permission to cut the number of "Stairs"-related captions by say...75%? Initial joke aside, any sentence with the word "stairs" in it is not automatically funny, but that seems like what the captions were going for here.

(Stairs.)--Xaaron (talk) 11:37, 4 December 2015 (EST)

I condone it with extreme prejudice. - Chris McFeely (talk) 12:43, 4 December 2015 (EST)
I honestly think there are still way too many stairs jokes here. It's practically insufferable. RyRodrigo (talk) 03:32, 6 March 2020 (EST)

The 'Stairs' explanation should be put in Trivia, right?Breech Loader (talk) 18:28, 14 December 2015 (EST)

Probably not. We don't usually do that unless it influences canon somehow. Besides, Xaaron just cut most of the stair jokes, so its not even that prominent on the page anymore. -Foffy the Sheep (talk) 19:09, 14 December 2015 (EST)
